I mean that compare to other "core players", he was a playoff beast. To be fair, he was.By what metric?
Nothing .. but I had heard last summer that Dubie had some deal in place with MLSE .. maybe not as GMHeard any juicy rumours? Any talk?

Pretty sure he's looking for a huge pay day, and the Leafs obviously can't afford that with the Tavares contract. Pretty sure he knows that.I think ROR is the one player that you can get a read on with his interview. Without specifically saying one thing r another, it appears clear to me that he doesn't have faith in this group. Nor does he want to return.
He was so clear in how happy he was to be a Maple Leaf, and the pride that came with that. It really looks at this point that he has no interest in continuing that. Which is incredibly alarming. What did he see in his short time as a Leaf that has lead him to saying he "hasn't put much thought' into UFA??
there is obviously room for me to have misinterpreted his demeanor and delivery. But at the end of the day, it didn't look promising. And if that is in fact the case, then that is a major problem. When a guy like ROR shows that level of apathy, it speaks volumes IMO.
I feel like its so clear we have a losing culture in that room
Nylander is not getting under 9 maybe 10I'd give him 13 to get it done and I think nearly everyone is ok with that. JT off the books in 2. Nylander probably looking at around 8.8m and Marner traded to balance the team
If Matthews wants 4/5 x 13m and Nylander wants 4/5 x 9m that's probably ok for us. Marner would need traded obviously.Nylander is not getting under 9 maybe 10
Post-Mortem Monday: Auston Matthews
*Understands hypothetical questions about whether Dubas being here or not next season changes his extension plans, but can't really answer "What if's " right now.
Trade him. No 85 point player is worth that much.Nylander is not getting under 9 maybe 10
I think that’s reading too much. I see more if the players saying Dubas is a good GM…..and they have the same goal more than if Dubas leaves, I am gone too. This is something I'd be concerned about. One cannot let players/employees hold the organization hostage. That isn't a blue print for success.
This is not a good precedent
*** if thats what he meant. I cannot read minds but spewing out what I thought might be the case

Except McDavid ended up actually producing in the 2nd round unlike Matthews.Well let's all be thankful Racer88 will get nowhere near the team to make decisions
McDavid - out in 6 games in the 2nd round - very impressive
40 Goals is what will tilt it.Trade him. No 85 point player is worth that much.
100% this. There is a "mindset" when you play hockey. You have your teammates' back and he has yours. If it is evreyone for themselves then thats not a team.
Oilers didn't lose due to lack of team support they lost because their goalie was ASS
f*** off Marner. You've forgotten about game 3 already? Seriously? You played like shit, time for you to own it.Post-Mortem Monday: Mitchell Marner
* Says this last series, they had plenty of opportunities to score goals. Says the bounces didn't go there way, and that Bob was playing well. Suggests that they didn't make life hard enough for Bob though. Credits Panthers for keeping it tight. Says the margin was so small in every game.
Post-Mortem Monday: Mitchell Marner
* Says that as he's reflecting on the year, has found lots of positives. Points out that there were moments throughout the year where things could have gone bad, or team turned on each other, but says they fought through a lot of different things & adversity and that they battled all the way through. Says he's proud of wearing the jersey and having his teammates around him.
If I'm the GM I say to Mitch something like this:Post-Mortem Monday: Mitchell Marner
* Calls it a dream to win in Toronto. Calls it his goal to work through every year. Sometimes it doesn't go your way, but says taking positives is important.
* Says all the trade discussions are above him. Reaffirms that he feels very fortunate that he's a Leaf and wants to continue to be one. "I feel very fortunate to play for this team, I want to continue playing for this team. I hope I get to keep playing for this team". Says it's all he's ever dreamed of as a kid, and hopes the surreal honor keeps going.
Yes. It’s very rare to have a player like Matthews do absolutely f*** all in the 2nd round of the playoffs. As long as Matthews stays, I don’t really care about anything else.
I don’t think people realize how rare it is to have a player like Matthews on your team. You have to draft them, typically first overall. They are never on the market, and the only player close in comparison that left the team that drafted them was Tavares and he is nowhere close to the caliber of player Matthews is.
The team played one more game then ours.Except McDavid ended up actually producing in the 2nd round unlike Matthews.

pretty much.Wants to win, but still doesn’t understand how. Sick of his cutesy plays. Even in the regular season they annoy me. He says he wants to win, but he is not serious about it.
It's like being at a porn audition and arguing about who doesn't have the smallest one.The team played one more game then ours.
And ours would have played many more games if Matthews produced the way McDavid did in the 2nd roundThe team played one more game then ours.
I honestly think Shanny needs to get Mitch, Auston, and Willy in a room and tell them that if they want this thing to continue in some form the next contracts can't be about them maximizing the money they will make. Like if they are serious about not liking this feeling then all 3 of them should be ready to jump on a market comparable(or less) contract. Especially since they all got great raises coming off entry level. It is easy to say you have had enough of losing, time to actually show it. If they still want to break the market rate? Well this thing won't continue on.
