GDT: End of season media availability - Pelley speaking Friday at 1PM EST

On the flip side... he has 19 points in close out games altogether. I think that game 7 stat is the outlier, not the rest of the games he's played. He's got a 125 points, in 95 playoff games... well above what our guys do in the playoffs.
no completely understood, but it seems to be a theme for Game 7s amongst everyone its nuts. Even Drai and McD aren't some heroes in game 7s. id love to analyze what it is that creates mr game 7s like Justin Williams

IMO it's a matter of the focus being on shutting the top players down. Then the mid guys have to score to win.

Not that it needed to be confirmed, but Pelley through a statement did say Shanahan is not coming back.

""It was determined that a new voice was required to take the team to the next level in the years ahead. The franchise will be forever grateful for Brendan’s contributions and wish him and his family every success and happiness in the future."

"A new voice" is very interesting.

These guys don't accidentally say these things, and the fact that they've taken all week to get their messaging right suggests that they are bringing someone else in - very interesting.

Not that you ever get much out of these suckers, but tomorrow might be worth tuning in to just to see what corporate babble they try and woe us with

Does that confirm they want to replace Shanahan? The tidbits from Johnston and other insiders is that it was likely the Leafs remove that position for the time being and give the GM more room and report directly to Pelley. It would essentially make Treliving the new President of Hockey OPS I guess.

My assumption was always that they were going to remove the President's position, and expand Brad's role so that he took on more of the hockey operations side of things - similarly to how Burke did when he was GM.

They seemed to be working overtime early this week to make sure every insider was able to put out there that Treliving is being viewed very positively internally - that would suggest they are paving the way towards expanding Treliving's role.

But "new voice" still suggests someone.. .new... from the outside? I don't know.

It'd be crazy if Tre became President and GM. Poor Dubas would've just had to wait a year to possibly get his dream job and possibly have a chance to hire his own GM if he just wanted the President position.

Or does it suggest that Shanny had more control over the team's build than we realize? If Tre ends up being the "new voice", then I think that says a lot. We'll have to wait and see.

Shanahan so loyal to Dubas and Marner but both screw him in the end. Rantanen mightve got us to the finals, maybe even a cup. Hard to let Shanny go after a cup final.

Nope sorry Shanahan.... Marner only thinks of Marner

seeya!

Shanny was a fierce competitor when he was a player but he has gone completely soft. Why did he think giving all this money to 4 soft forwards will lead to a SC championship? Why did he allow Dubas to give in to them? Why did he not want to adjust and change course when it was becoming clear that it's not gonna work? I just don't get it.

He also thought about his expecting wife and child, which is exactly what a new father should do.
Yeah, the timing of the trade request didn't make sense for Mitch... and he was in his right to refuse it. The team provided that opportunity to him, and no doubt respected the decision.

The Marner trade should have happened before the NMC kicked in... yet another item on the list of mis-management by the Leafs executives.
