The key is often getting people to score in games 5 and 6... so we don't get to game 7. Our guys can't even do that.

IMO it's a matter of the focus being on shutting the top players down. Then the mid guys have to score to win.

The tidbits from Johnston and other insiders is that it was likely the Leafs remove that position for the time being and give the GM more room and report directly to Pelley. It would essentially make Treliving the new President of Hockey OPS I guess.

Yeah, the timing of the trade request didn't make sense for Mitch... and he was in his right to refuse it. The team provided that opportunity to him, and no doubt respected the decision.

The Marner trade should have happened before the NMC kicked in... yet another item on the list of mis-management by the Leafs executives.
