Out produced didnt out playReplace Rantanen with Marner in the game and I doubt you see a different outcome in game 7. You can't put the performance on one or two players. The whole team sucked in game 7. Everyone.
Marner still outproduced guys like Barkov, Tkachuk, Reinhardt, etc. So I don't really understand the 'can't perform in the playoffs' thing. We lost 6-1. Everyone played like shit. You could argue his cap space can be better used on depth, and I think there could be validity to that - our bottom 6 was nowhere near as productive as Florida's.
My comments on Rielly relate more to his performance through the regular and postseason. He just feels like an anchor on the backend at this point. But certainly not the only change I'd make.
We don't have any 1st round draft picks in the next 3 years and we're letting going 1 of the best players in the league walk away for free. This upcoming era might be as bad or possibly worse than what we went through in 2005-06 to 2015-2016.Treliving did a pretty bad job in Calgary. Dark times ahead for us, I think. We just have to remember we were never going to win in this era, so even if we suck and don't make the playoffs, the situation was necessary as part of the great reset.
Lets just hope Treliving doesn't cripple us with bad contracts like previous GMs.
A large segment of Leaf Nation are in love with their fancy sports car type players, they don’t want muddy pick up truck players even though the playoffs are played in the trenches not on freshly paved tarmac. Florida wins because they’re built for the playoffs, the Leafs…….not even close……..There's a curious phenomenon on these boards where everyone agrees that we need to get meaner and nastier, but most posters don't want to bring in mean and nasty players.
Luckily captain idiot didn’t sign a long term deal, not much luck falls into the Leafs lap, but that was a huge one. I highly doubt I’ll follow the team as long as that piece of shit is the captain, I don’t know how any player could tolerate having such a egotistical slug lead them into battle……..MLSE bet the farm on this core 5 soft super star model of Shanny and Dubas, we are going to feel the failure for more years to come
I agree but the only sad part is he will probably walk at the end of it for nothing just like Marner is going to do.Luckily captain idiot didn’t sign a long term deal, not much luck falls into the Leafs lap, but that was a huge one. At yhe very least he should be stripped of the C, maybe that would motivate him to move on?I agree but the only sad part is he will probably walk at the end of it for nothing just like Marner is going to do.
I want both those chumps gone but it sure would be nice to get something back in return.
Like Marner I’m sure Matthews will say screw you if they ask him to agree to trade.
I don’t blame Marner for not waiving when he and his wife were about to have a baby. I can see Matthews refusing to go to Robidas Island and giving them cap relief.I agree but the only sad part is he will probably walk at the end of it for nothing just like Marner is going to do.

Let him walk, take his best friend with him. The team might not make the playoffs but making the playoffs isn't enough. The goal is to win a Stanley Cup. These guys have been together for 9 seasons and haven't improved at all come playoff time. In fact they disappear more often than not.We don't have any 1st round draft picks in the next 3 years and we're letting going 1 of the best players in the league walk away for free. Getting rid of guys like Kadri and Hyman, overpaying those three, and wasting and throwing away picks has to be one of the biggest management blunders in NHL history.MLSE bet the farm on this core 5 soft super star model of Shanny and Dubas, we are going to feel the failure for more years to come
Nothing in the farm system and not much on the NHL roster either. As of today, all they need is everything other than Knies at 1 LW and maybe Stolarz at 1 G and Woll at 2G.We don't have any 1st round draft picks in the next 3 years and we're letting going 1 of the best players in the league walk away for free. This upcoming era might be as bad or possibly worse than what we went through in 2005-06 to 2015-2016.
It definitely was a mistake but from MLSE's side, to them this core prints money. Yes they want to win but having a guaranteed playoff team with guys that sell jerseys is more important.Getting rid of guys like Kadri and Hyman, overpaying those three, and wasting and throwing away picks has to be one of the biggest management blunders in NHL history.
Some of us knew it was a big mistake at the time.
how you can complain about Benoit is wild. LOLStill a minus 3 bro and he doesn’t play with the net empty not good enough
If they had a complete roster they still would have made the playoffs. MLSE is biggest advocate for the salary cap and were always going to spend to the max, so Dubas and Shanahan cost them a lot of money with their cap allocations and wasted LTIR just to make the playoffs. It definitely was a mistake but from MLSE's side, to them this core prints money. With that logic, Edmonton should trade McDavid and Draisaitl asap.Let him walk, take his best friend with him. The team might not make the playoffs but making the playoffs isn't enough. You're not getting it. This has nothing to do with Leafs and Oilers as teams but the comparison of their top players. McDavid and Draisaitl constantly win puck battles and lead the Oilers in scoring in the playoffs. With that logic, Edmonton should trade McDavid and Draisaitl asap.
If you can't even do something as simple as opening up some pages for some playoff stats, I don't think you got the faculties to be making any hockey player comparisons. With that logic, Edmonton should trade McDavid and Draisaitl asap.
This is why we should ask Matthews/Nylander and Reilly to waive or pick teams they would be willing to move too.We don't have any 1st round draft picks in the next 3 years and we're letting going 1 of the best players in the league walk away for free. This upcoming era might be as bad or possibly worse than what we went through in 2005-06 to 2015-2016.
"A minus 3" because the Core Fore couldn't score.Still a minus 3 bro and he doesn’t play with the net empty not good enough
I thought we're not suppose to care about individual stats? It's either cup or bust, right? If you can't even do something as simple as opening up some pages for some playoff stats, I don't think you got the faculties to be making any hockey player comparisons.
I've noticed this poster post lots of incorrect information this past little bit. It's wild.Lol.
No they weren't.
You still need your top players to perform to win a cup. While the Oilers duo haven't won a cup, they lead the team in scoring every playoffs and have got them to a game 7 in the Cup Final.I thought we're not suppose to care about individual stats? It's either cup or bust, right?
