I am curious to know what you guys think of Steve Eminger & Braydon Coburn's offensive upside.

Who do you think has more, who do you think will have a longer productive career. Just your thoughts in general about the two.

Also what D prospect do you see has the next BIG thing (counting first year pros)

peace out

wow... no one has anything to say about the two.
cmon, there has to be someone, anyone.

... i think Eminger is the better of the two, steve is a solid player with both offensive and defensive up-side - an all round player and is practicing his trade in the NHL while Coburn is probably one or two seasons away from playing full time NHL.

Cobourn, though, is a big man (6'5) and i think has the potential to turn into another Pronger... i know those are big skates to fill, i still think he has the potential. its tough, i like Eminger now and i think Coburn is the roughest (around the edges) of the two, one things is for sure, the both of them will have great careers.

Eminger potential = 60-65 pts
Coburn potential = 50-55 pts

There's just a bunch of d-men that are doing 65 pts a year and there's around 10 d-men that are doing 55 pts i don't see any of those two being close to those numbers...Eminger MAY become a 50 pts while i see Coburn around 35 pts at his peak....well that's just me

C'est pour cette raison que tu le veux....! :yo:

Now let's be serious about those guys, i really dont see them doing 60 points a year, too many person on this board are saying that some young d-man are going to be the next Lidstrom. The game has changed let's face it, a 40 pts d-man is now a talented offensive d-man while a 60pts d-man is a Lidstrom type of d-man....! Eminger can maybe if all the stars are aligned put 50 pts while Coburn is suppose to be less offensive.

just curious to know why most people think Eminger, and more importantly Coburn, don't have as much offnsive upside as I think they do... ok, point prediction aside (cuz your right about todays NHL, a 40 pt D is like a 60 pt in the 90's)...

who do you think is a D with tons of offensive talent.. someone who will light the lamp for season to come. someone who will put up lidstrom, gonchar, leetch type numbers?

i can't find him!

Pitkanen is the real deal.
Bouwmeester will prob take a little longer then the Panthers would like, but also a great D.
Klesla, not sure about this kid. I like him, but don't think he'll reach his full potential.

What I'd like to know, is there anyone not playing in the NHL (minore, juniors, college, etc) that will be like a Bouwmeester & Pitkanen?

I need to find him for my hockey pool - its life time pool.

Coburn

I had the chance of watching Coburn play in that Canada/Russian challenge, and I have to say he did really impress me. His skating for a big man is very well, but what surprised me more than anything was his nice shot from the point... it's not overly hard, but he seemed to hit the net pretty much everytime. Now He may not be a 60 point man in the NHL, but he's sure going to fun to watch on the PP with Kovalchuk and Heatley. As for other defensemen, if you're in a keeper league that rewards PIMs as well as points, take a serious look at Dion Phaneuf... that guy is going to be good.

Thanks Crazy Fan

Coburn = Wade Redden - 10G 25 A - dominates in his own end.

Eminger = 15 30A - average Defense.

The days of D's getting 25 Goals and 70 points are gone for awhile. I don't see any of the guys out there right now putting up Gonchar/Lidstrom type numbers.

Coburn = Derian Hatcher type of defenseman. 25-30 points
Eminger = Mathieu Schneider type of defenseman. 45-50 points.

Coburn will definately be the better defensivly of the two while Eminger pots 45 points a season and will mainly be a PP specialist.

Comparing Coburn to Redden is way off. Very different styles of play.

I really don'T think Coburn is Derian Hatchers Material. He got size but isn't has mean has the BIG D.

I'd use these comparaison instead
Eminger: Tom Poti
Coburn: Mathias Ohlund

Coburn=Pronger

(Both have size and an offensive upside plus good in there own end)

Eminger=Rafalski

(Both smart offensive defenceman, won't light up the lamp too much but will rack up the assists)
