That's the rational thought here. Two similarly talented guys playing the same role on their team. One needs a new deal and has waffled on staying where he is so you figure he's going to get paid very well to stay. Any team would of course be thrilled to have either guy.

Went with undecided. Hughes is younger so his potential for further growth is higher. Pettersson has a better defensive game. Pettersson also has played on much worse rosters than Hughes when comparing last season and this season. Considering contracts and age, Hughes is an easy pick here though.

Hughes is the pretty easy answer for me.

Pettersson is the more complete player.

I’d take Hughes, expecting him to continue to improve, and expecting Pettersson to have a more expensive contract.

Jack is 2 years younger, signed for 7 more years at 8m per.

Petey is 2 years older, signed for 1 more year, and is likely getting 11+ on a deal in the offseason if he even decides to stay in Vancouver.

I'm not sure how it's a question. Even if you think they're similarly talented players, it's gotta be Hughes by a mile.

Went with Hughes. I like his offense better, but he isn’t on the level Pettersson is defensively yet. Both amazing talents, one needs a big new contract, so the choice is even more obvious than the Stutzle over Matthews from a few weeks back.
