If people who think Eklblad’s elbow should have been called are “whiners,” then wouldn’t that mean you are responding by whining too?
Or maybe NHL refs are consistently selective, and there is more of a deep rooted problem in their training (in which case you’re both kinda right, and not whining, and there is actually a productive outcome to be had).

I'm guessing the fact that Mikkola was kicked out of the game is why he's not getting anything, or it just hasn't been announced yet.
Mikkola ended up being fined $5k (maximum allowable under the CBA), but that news is only a few minutes old at the moment.

It's a clear suspension. Don't get me wrong, I would've loved it if the roles were reversed...but it's still a suspension.

I can already tell the league is going to get the Mikkola and Ekblad hit punishments bass ackwards. I have a really hard time seeing how hitting a guys head (who's on his knees already) into the boards isn't by far the worse play than Ekblads forearm shiver. I'd consider Ekblad's hit a fine at most, and Mikkola a multi game suspension.

If what you're asking about is whether his 20-game suspension for PEDs makes him considered a repeat offender, then no. I don't know his entire disciplinary history, but I do know that supplemental discipline goes after something like 18 months when DOPS is looking at the definition of a repeat offender. I just don't know off hand if he has any history in the last 18 months (assuming that's what the timeframe is) other than the PED suspension.

It is cluless. If he is injured in any way from a cheap shot it should be a suspension. Anything that happens due to a cheapshot is a result of the cheapshot.
