EHM verse FHM

Hey everyone,

I have been thinking about getting one of these sim-style games and was wondering which one people play and why? Is there a clear better game?

I'm a big Football Manager guy so EHM seemed to stick out for me based on the Sports Interactive connection. Just trying to get away from the slow and boring sim of the EA games.

If you are used to what SI has put out, try EHM first. Both FHM and EHM are manager sims, but a lot more people (from what I've seen) seem to play EHM over FHM.

FHM is put out yearly, and they have fine tuned it over the years, while EHM the base game is more customize-able.

So EHM does not release yearly? I'm guessing that means that you can just download roster updates from somewhere on steam?

Correct. EHM used to be a yearly game, but stopped in 2007. Recently, the game was re-released in 2015/2016 and it does maintain roster updates through 3 great databases. You can visit the EHM forum as well

Wait for the next patch. Risto is working on it in his free time, so nobody know, when. But it should have big improvements.

Is it a free update? If i buy now Its not like I'll be missing out a new version come the start of the season ?

Tried both this month.

EHM for me, especially with the free updates/logo/face packs etc that fans produce. Just downloaded 2019/20 update....

FHM is good, but a little "thin"
It has a fantastic built in Editor, and face generator, but no where near as deep...

With the amount of Free stuff available, EHM wins hands down..

You can start unemployed and with a ‘rec leaguer’ reputation if you want to, or pick any team you want and change your reputation as well

Rosters-I recommend the two that get posted on the stickied EHM thread by ECK and BK (shortening names). I’d look through a thread or two to see what you want to use. Really depends on how customized you want it (31 or 32 team league vs having a 36 team league, WHA, etc)

TBL and ECK roster have 31 teams rosters directly on steam. Personally, I prefer ECK ratings. He also has a 2019-2020 DB (last updated July 7) which is not the case for TBL which is a 2018-2019 start of season DB.

BK NHL32 database includes an empty Seattle team. Pretty interesting to build it up from nothing. Draft prospects (especially 2020) are boosted in his DB so the top is NHL ready. Depending on the limits you set for yourself, it may be very hard to build a great team. You may want to disable human GM sacking if you plan to go the long way.

He also has a version with an active reborn WHA which is nice because you must feed on the NHL tweener and bottom 6. There is also always the chance a NHL team sign your player back (like you can normally do with Euro players) so you always need to be on your guard and be ready to replace any player for the next year.

I am loving my "new" version of EHM.
I did enjoy my week of FHM, but the "match day" engine was really weak.
The EHM 2D match isn't exactley exciting, but at least its "something" to watch...
Also the EHM is much more detailed.
With the updated rosters, and player face packs, it's going to do me nicely.

They dont release a new version every season, but they do release updates. Much better IMO instead of having to pay X amount of dollars every year for minor upgrades in a new game (like EA does)
