Confirmed with Link: Edmonton trades for Trent Frederic and Max Jones and rights to Petr Hauser for Shane Lachance, Max Wanner, St. Louis' 2nd pick in `25, Edm 4th in `26

The damage was done in retrospect by Jackson in free agency. We needed grit, and possibly Skinner and Arvy were signed with an eye towards what we were losing instead of what we needed. Jones could have been had for free in November.

Setting the negative aside (and the price point), I think these guys (when healthy) will make us a better team.

Boston fans don’t have any remorse. That generally scares me. Hopefully we just didn’t pay for past performance.

Hmmmmm someone tell me how I should feel about this. I’ve liked the player from the limited viewings I’ve had of him but I don’t know if I would of paid that price for him…

Holy shit!

Boston being my second team, I love Trent Frederic. I didn’t think we’d be in the market for him; though for sure he was a sneaky 1st cost. But I don’t think we can resign him. And I feel like the Blues are going to go hard at signing him this offseason.

Max Jones is depth beef.

Going to miss following Lachance and Wanner had fallen off. Goodbye STL 2nd, glad I waited to make that draft thread.

He's injured with no immediate timeline to return (week-to-week). Yes, it's more likely that he does play games, but there's no guarantee at this point.
That’s being awfully pessimistic. Going from Week to week to never play a game is quite the leap

I like fredric, I actually think he is exactly what the oilers need in the bottom 6.... that being said I think this is an overpay for him when hes a UFA and injured. Not impressed with this trade at all, oilers have one draft pick in 2025, and we lost 2 top 10 prospects... going all in when the team looks slow and old and with the goalie situation unresolved... just not good.

He’s been genuinely bad this year from an analytics standpoint point. And that’s even comparing him to the other players. He isn’t seeing tough matchups but is getting constantly outscored.

Players like this will have their production drop off when there are literally no drivers on the team. I think the multi year track record of good play before the team collapsed this year is a better indicator of what we're getting.

Not too familiar with Frederics game but he is under 30 years old, can score a bit at 5x5 and has good size which is something this team desperately needs...

Not the biggest fan of this player but has a lot that the team needs and don’t mind them targeting him. The price paid makes me think this is their forward acquisition. Maybe if this unlocks Henrique as a winger it might boost the scoring.

I also think it’s likely they didn’t see Lachance signing given he was a throw in for very little retention

Another way of looking at this is that this ultimately became

Wanner, Lachance, Broberg and a 4th round pick for a couple weeks of Frederic, an AHL winger and a 5th round prospect that has displayed literally zero offense at the senior level after a few seasons..
and 4.5 million more of cap space

I'm good with it. Young, physical 3rd liner.
I liked Wanner but he seems like a longshot, just pray that he doesn't turn into Kesslering but even if he does, at least this is for a youngish 3rd liner that could be a multi-year solution, if re-signed, and not a rental 4C.
