So I have been a fan of the Oilers for about ten years. I am from Oklahoma City originally and started following the Oilers when the Barons came to Oklahoma City. Even though the Barons have obviously moved to Bakersfield, I am still a fan of the team and making my way to Edmonton for the first time this weekend. Any recs on food, things to do, nightlife, ect is greatly appreciated.

Most of the places to go out and eat in Edmonton are either on Whyte Ave, Jasper Ave and West Edmonton Mall. If you're staying downtown you will be near the arena and lots of restaurants and bars.

I recommend sticking to downtown, 124 st area and Whyte Ave. The sugar bowl near Whyte is a nice place to get a fancy Belgian beer.

Cactus Club is expensive but generally good quality. There is one in West Edmonton and one on Jasper.

I guess you are "older"?

I'd just blast a few nightlife spots around Downtown or Whyte Ave, you can look them up: Red Star, Pub 1905, OTR (On The Rocks), Cook County Saloon, O'Byrnes, Black Dog Freehouse, El Cortez, Starlight Room, Thrift Shop Bar, Metro Billiards, ...

For "things to do": Shopping @ WEM, Elk Island Park, Jasper Park, gamble @ a Casino, or maybe find some ODR shinny.

Food: Try some Pho (Vietnamese Soup), Donair (there are entire threads and blogs dedicated to this), and for sure Alberta Beef.

If you'd tell me more about yourself and your interests I'd give a better recommendation bruv.

Get yourself a donair.

Also, need to know your age and interests before handing out recs. Do you like craft beer? Do you like fancy food? Are you active outdoors?

I'm 28. Do enjoy craft beer and nightlife. I play hockey and was at least planning on bringing skates if there are outdoor rinks around. Hope this helps.

-you're gonna want to hit West Edmonton Mall...lots of shops, restaurants, fun things to do there...extremely busy and touristy there though

-if staying downtown, hit up some of the pubs before the hockey game: my favorites are Mercer Tavern, Urban Tavern, Kelly's Pub

-go to Whyte Ave across the river from downtown where the hipsters and University students hang out....again, lots of restaurants and bars that are nice and close together

-Ice Castles in Hawrelak Park is pretty cool

-dress warm! will be quite chilly this weekend
