The Oilers are closer to last place than i would like and it just doesn't look good for this year, so I say we move out pieces and move on to next year. The problem is we just do not have a lot that people want. We have been showcasing Talbot for a while now, so he is likely moved out. We also could move Kassian, Brodziak and Manning as well, although some of those will get little to nothing and may require picks just to get rid of.

here is my go at the deadline:

Talbot to Columbus-Talbot(50%) retained and a 3rd for Milano(in the AHL)
once they trade bob so they have a korpisalo with a Talbot back up for their playoff run

Kassian Calgary for Lazar

I would also check if Russel would accept a trade as he might be of value to a Playoff team if we retained a little maybe 25%. He probably won't but if he did I would offer him out. Russel for 3 million is about right even with some term. He may want to look at getting off this sinking ship while he can.

Russel(25%) retained for 3rd round pick from any playoff team he will accept.

Manning and a 3rd round pick for a 7th round pick.

The oilers knock off 5.5 million worth of cap off next season and clear up some spots for growth within the organization for Players like Jones and Bear for next season.

Russell has a full NMC and I think he's an Alberta boy and signed with Edmonton to be close to family.
Not working.
His NMC becomes limited July 1st.

Talbot trade need to switch 3rd for a 4th.

The sad thing is Edmonton could sell off Kassian, Rieder, Talbot, Manning, Petrovic, and Brodziak and still not be any worse off.

I don't think the Oilers have a good shot to make the playoffs as is, but selling these guys off wouldn't actually damage their chances too much

Side note: if you can get anything ever for Lucic, Sekera, and Russell you do it. I just don't think it's very likely.

Our 'sell off' in the coming weeks would be Talbot, Rieder, Brodziak, Spooner and Benning. Chiasson if there's something relatively significant on the table.

You're not going to find a taker for Manning, so moving Benning makes the most sense to me since he's still got another year left on his deal. Petrovic could be moved also, but I'd prefer to keep him and simply let his contract end.

I'm not sure there's a ton of value there, but it'd be nice to recoup some picks for the upcoming draft.

Would do Manning and a 2021 2nd for a 2019 5th. Gets Philly a pick they could potentially use to bribe Seattle in the expansion draft not to take one of our important young defensemen, one of which will undoubtedly have to be exposed. With Manning off the books, the Oilers organization gets whatever it is it’s seeking with the resulting cap space. Manning gets to rot in the minors until before he becomes a free agent again. Everybody wins!

While this is likely true, the Flames also aren't in a position to acquire a $2 million banger that will play on their 4th line.

I honestly wouldn't trade Stone for Kass, so Lazar isn't even an option haha, eh Lunatik?

Chiasson should probably net us a 3rd. Kassian a 5th. Petrovic a 6th/7th. That's really it when it comes to expendable assets. Maybe Talbot with 50% retention also nets us a 5th. I'll take a stab at destinations.

To CAR: Kassian

To EDM: 5th 2019

Canes could use some toughness. Kassian is also signed for next year, so this isn't a rental add for a team on the playoff bubble.

To DAL: Chiasson

To EDM: 2019 3rd

If any playoff bound team could use some secondary scoring, it's the Stars. Chiasson has 17 goals.

To CGY: Talbot (50% retained)

To EDM: Smith, 2019 5th

Gives the Flames some extra cap room to play with at the deadline and a slightly better back up (Talbot actually has slightly better sv% despite our brutal D).

To EDM: 7th 2019

To TOR: Petrovic

Depth Dman with some toughness. So a dozen games of Petrovic only costs the Oilers 140 spots in the draft (Oil 3rd will be around 70th, TOR pick around 210th). #chiavalue

I’d say of the pieces were likely to sell, Chiasson, Benning, Talbot and Kassian have the most/positive value. Russell has some too. I guess Rieder might have a little to a team wanting a PK guy. Brodziak isn’t a rental but he is a right shot faceoff/PK guy, someone might bite for a lower pick. I’d sell anything not nailed down right now.

Petrovic is nothing. Manning is negative. Spooner is negative. Lucic is big oof negative.

I would pass on this, not because of value, but because I believe moving Smith could have a negative impact on Rittich, as they have become very close and Smith has been a fantastic mentor for him. That said, I would still take Talbot at 50% for a 5th. The deadline cap space, I don't believe this will be an issue as we have space to add $6.978 million in cap hits at the deadline; so after adding Talbot at 50% we'd still have a little over $4.875 space to add cap hits.

I don't think Chiasson gets you a 3rd. The world knows he's a fourth line players who's production is a result of McDavid and a ridiculous shooting percentage. If someone offers a 4th, I think they should take it.
I think Kassian gets you a little more. His play has improved since Hitch took over. He brings speed, size and nastiness to the table...all valued in playoffs. Could see someone offer a 3rd rounder.
Petrovic range is about right. Should be in the press box for most playoff teams.
Talbot at 50% could be great pickup for a back up option as there is a history of goalies leaving the Oilers that become much better with an actual NHL defense in front of them. No idea on goaltender value, goalies are weird.
Although not on your list, Russell could be interesting. Would be really good as a #5. $4m would chase off a lot of teams, but his actual salary is $1.5m in the final year of his contract which means it would be very movable. 3rd rounder?

I'll take Kassian on the Leafs
I watch the Oilers quite often. The thought of Kassian and his 2 million salary being absorbed into the ultra tight cap space next season quite honestly makes me cringe.

I can see Kassian having some value if the Oilers retain salary to the range of a 4th line winger.

Chiasson should garner a 3rd.

Talbot has no value because he is a terrible goalie. Why would anyone take on a bad goalie? Retaining cap on Talbot does not change the fact that he is awful.

Russel has negative value. Retaining 25% could improve his value to a 3rd.

Manning + Oilers 3rd seems fair.

Brodziak? 4th? i dunno.
