We needed more LHD D-depth we only have one LHD on the farm.

Dermott isn't an NHL player, but if he is 9th-10th in your pecking order that is a reasonable spot for him and should be a significant add to the AHL squad.
Explain to me how this helps the Oilers win the Stanley Cup this year?
To me it's more akin to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic as it speeds toward the iceberg. The heading and course remain the same.
Time for a drastic course correction, not a minor redecoration.

You want me to explain to you how depth helps!?

Injuries occur, sometimes multiple, I remember BUF was having a monster playoffs in the mid-2000's and they were essentially de-railed cause they didn't have enough d-depth to cover all the injuries. Sure it is unlikely to have that many injuries on D, but no harm in being prepared.

If Edmonton is resorting to playing Dermott in the playoffs they're probably f***ed.

If Dermott is replacing Ekholm then yeah we're probably f***ed, but if lets say Emberson and Stecher get injured and Kulak gets supended for 2 games could he fill in without screwing us over too bad, I wouldn't be shocked.

It's a nothing move that costs us nothing other than a contract spot to cover for a 1 in a 100 occurrence and helps the AHL squad. Not that big of a deal, sorry for interrupting your "witty" remarks and mud-slinging over a marginal waiver wire pick-up, by all means continue.
