Kapanen is still a serviceable NHL player with good speed. Maybe he’ll be a better fit in Edmonton than he was in St. Louis…if not the contract is still fully buriable so no big deal

Oh dang. I didn't see that coming.

I don't see "speedy inconsistent scoring" or "questionable effort" on the list of things Edmonton needs.

Totally unnecessary. But hey, I'm happy for Kapanen.

Edit: at least he's cheap. I didn't realise he's only costing them 1 million on the cap.

We needed an NHL-quality F with Josh Brown at risk of being a regular now that Kane Nurse and possibly also Arvidsson are hurt. They don't want to call up Savoie yet which I understand so it's either we try Drake Caggiula again (not an NHL player) or go with someone that had 22 points just last year. I don't hate it and maybe Coffey- who has helped to institute a lot of our identity as a fast, strong forechecking team- can squeeze some more miles out of him.

Kinda forgot this dude was still playing. What happened to him? Thought he was Michael Grabner reincarnated for a while.
Quite frankly, he never has had the attitude of taking his career seriously enough to push his talent to the max. Instead, he has enjoyed very much of being able to make it as an NHLer. Which is now showing in the form of him being have to show he still belongs. There have been a few wakeup calls already, this is the last one you would think.

Haha woooow... ok.

From driving drunk, almost pissing your career away for shits and giggles to McDavids wing. This is how you fail upwards folks
Well hopefully he is not expected to be that kind of savior, although no Oiler winger is doing anything this season so he could get a shot.

Meh. We're old and slow and he's fast and a decent penalty killer. Brings at least a couple elements we need.

If he doesn't work out he'll go back on waivers and/or down to Bako. Fully buriable contract.

Worth a look-see while Arvidsson is banged up.

You had us at scoring, honestly.

Right now McDavid and Draisaitl are both on pace for 110 points. We don't have another forward even pacing for 40. The whole team is in a shooting funk AND we can't buy a save.

The league needs to investigate this. How does a cup favorite with one of the deepest forward cores ever get a forward of this caliber completely for free? NHL not even pretending its not rigged anymore
Oilers cheating the system by playing roughly 0.500 hockey

he got a DUI and a moving violation in another country, pretty sure his career was never in any jeopardy over that.
