Looks to have lost a step from last year, if he can get it back he's a good 6/7 guy. Really happy with this signing as I like the player and what he brings when he's at the top of his game.

Hope the Avs claim him, if he's on waivers. Only have 3 RHD in the entire organization. Plus little experienced depth in the AHL. Only have 46/50 contracts.

I think he only goes down later in the season if someone else in the AHL shows they are ready (cough *Reinhart* cough). I truly think Gryba was brought in as an option to play over Griffin as they are rightly concerned with his development.

If you claim him - then you need to keep him in the NHL.

I thought the whole point of a two-way deal was that they didn't need to clear waivers

That's only in the video game. All 2 way deals mean is that they make different salary depending on whether they're in the AHL or NHL. Waivers in real life is dependent on how many years you've been in the league.

Actually, in the games two way contracts aren't waiver exempt if the player qualifies for waivers.

The issue with the games is that there is no "cut" period at the start of the season like in real life where other teams in GM mode can claim waiver eligible players who you send to the minors. So even if a guy needs waivers, if you stash him in the minors during the pre-season, he won't need to clear unless you recall him during the regular season and then try to send him down.
