I don't understand either.

Why do the Oilers deal Eberle for two pending UFAs? Hanzal and Stone could just walk in a few months and now you have nothing. Only way dealing Eberle in that scenario makes sense is if you get a bonafide PP QB and I like Stone but he isn't that.

Also not a fan at all of trading a potential top 10 pick for Soderberg.

Soderberg is not worth anywhere close to that. He was traded for a 6th rounder last year. I don't see a fit for him in EDM, especially when COL just signed him to a five year 23.75M contract with a no trade clause. As for the second Proposal the Oilers are already deep at C and don't need to be trading their top line winger for a 3C and a middle pairing D man, they already have plenty of those.

Both trades are bad for EDM.

His UFA rights, days before he hit UFA, were traded for a 6th. That is one of the dumbest statements made on this board in a while.

A 1st isn't enough to compensate for the cap dump that is Fayne. Even if it is just a 2/3 C in Soderberg going the other way.

At least you can admit that you don't understand that there's a difference between a pending ufa in the off season and a player with a contract.

Both of these trades make little to no sense from an Edmonton perspective. Soderberg is a C, and unlikely to play ahead of McDavid, RNH or Draisaitl, and he makes way too much money to be used on the fourth line (not to mention the Oilers already have a perfectly competent fourth line center in Letestu). Why give up a first round pick to get something you don't really need at all? Hanzal, same sort of thing, good player, but Edmonton doesn't need more centers right now. Stone would be a nice addition, but absolutely no interest in moving Eberle for a couple of pending UFAs. If Arizona wants to move Stone for futures, I'm all ears on that one.

It most certainly is worth it. 3.6m for a year and a half is not that bad.

I'm gonna hi-jack this proposal with a different idea, but involving many of the same pieces.

To EDM: Landeskog

To COL: Nuge

Avs fans seemed OK with this deal in the Avs fire sale thread, as they felt Nuge had good chemistry with MacK. It could possibly be argued Nuge holds a shade more value due to position, but Landy's cap hit is also a shade less and his physicality covers any perceived "gap" in value due to position.

This deal would of course be contingent on acquiring Hanzal to fill Nuge's role, thus trade 2...

To ARI: Eberle, STL cond pick (2/3rd)

To EDM: Hanzal, Stone

The OP's proposal didn't make sense when it involved Hendricks because what good does an impending UFA 4th liner do for a team clearly in sell mode (in the proposal).

The Oil then have one hell of a heavy lineup up front:

Lucic-McDavid-Landeskog
Maroon-Draisaitl-Puljujarvi
Pouliot-Hanzal-Kassian
Hendricks-Letestu-Pitlick

The avs don't need a center they already have Duchane and Mackinnon.

....and Soderberg, Grigorenko, John Mitchell, with youngsters JT Compher and Tyson Jost not far off.

Center is the last position the Avs would ever trade a winger for.

That poster may as well suggest that Colorado trade Erik Johnson or Tyson Barrie for a center.

Works both ways. Why would the Oilers trade away a top line rw or a 1st for 2 centers when they have Mcdavid, Nuge, an Drai?

Then tell your fellow Edmonton fans to stop posting trades for centers.

Problem solved.

Or you could take a quick scan through the aforementioned "Avs Fire Sale" thread to see a number of Avs fans open to the idea of Nuge for Landy. I think most felt MacK would look better on the wing with Nuge (as he did in the World Cup).

I don't believe I saw any Avs fan saying Landy for RNH was a good basis for a deal. I saw that brought up Barrie for RNH again, which could be something to work with. But regardless, Landy won't get traded unless it's for a dumb overpayment.

This Avs fan is saying absolutely zero interest in anything around that.
