Series Talk: ECSF - Return To Canada - You Want Panthers? All The Smoke Edition

Oh I agree. I’m just feeling good from last night. It’s more just the nonsense that gets posted and then I post nonsense back.
I agree with the whole thing being a shitshow.

I was told I was being unfair to certain posters too. Same idiots in every thread, they are lurking in all our threads here too.

And complain up the chain about doing the exact things they do themselves.

Meh. I will stick with our home lunatics. All good.

I personally love that everyone hates us and is so emotional.
Just shows we’re at the top of the NHL. No more irrelevance.

yeah im ngl im not impressed how weve played so far, were struggling to complete routine plays and playing too aggressive on the hitting side.
Not seeing much of any nice passes setting up for a goal, although the greasy ones in front of the net are good.
that said were somehow up 3-1, but this seems nowhere as dominant as last series felt.

Top line has been shutdown by tampa, and not much from our 4th line which honestly i thought would be better offensively. At least defensively were killing it outside of a bad game 3

Honestly pretty crazy 5 out of 11 goals (not incl empty nets) have been from our blue line.

Losing mikkola and prob ekblad, and bet tampa is gonna come out for blood game 5 so well see who even makes it out of that game.

I think its fair to say there have been long stretches where we don't look dominant, but...neither does Tampa, the best regular season offense. And there have been stretches where we have looked absolutely dominant, but just don't score.

I think that's part of our game though, always has been. Even going back to last year's runs, there's times where it doesn't look like much is happening, but I think that's by design. A game that's slowed down will bog down high-octane offenses, and our team is built to get the greasy goals with amazing hand-eye and lots of net front opportunities. We get lots of goals that look like bounces, but those tips, bats, and goals off of asses aren't completely by accident. I'd bet if there was a greasy goals per 60 metric, we'd be right near the top.

But I think that's why we've been good. We have a ton of high-end talent, but its greasy hard-working talent that is also defensively responsible and willing to play a patient boring game when needed.

The Panthers still have another gear, maybe even two when the season is on the line.

The Dolts squad is a pushover for the Cats when it comes down to playoff hockey. Hedman and McDoughnut are aging veterans who don't have the stamina to stifle opposing fwds, Cernak seems to be prone to injuries, and the rest of their dmen are either inexperienced or just don't belong to the playoffs altogether. They have a good top6 and Vasi but that's about it.

Anything could happen but imo the first true test for the Cats will be their ECF opponent and the Panthers adjust their effort level according to the competition. We've seen half-assed effort, sloppy passes, etc. and yet the Panthers have the lead in this series and Maurice hasn't called a timeout to get them focused on the details.

4/16!

A part of me is a bit cautious about the Sens. I don't like to root for an opponent because to be the champ you gotta beat the best, doesn't matter either way.

But Ottawa coming off a historic 3-0 comeback, with Brady playing his brother, a young, talented Ottawa team like that playing with house money could be dangerous.

The Leafs could beat the Panthers in the 2nd round but from what I've seen, even under Berube they seem like the same old wet paper-bag team with no spine and no real team leader.

I think everyone here is just cheering for Ottawa because Toronto getting reverse swept would be hilarious. The Sens should arguably be up 3-2 in the series, they've played well. I don't think anyone is cheering for Ottawa because they want to avoid Toronto lol. If Florida can't beat the Leafs they weren't beating Dallas/Vegas etc anyways.

Yes and no. The Jones goal should not have happened and I don't recall many spectacular saves he made last night. He's better than his game 1 performance but yeah the D and PP has let Tampa down big time.
The D especially that whole series. How many goals can we count in that series where we had a guy wide open one on one with Vasilevskiy? The two that immediately come to mind (the most egregious) are the first Tkachuk PPG and the Lundell goal in G4. There were several other massive breakdowns by the Lightning D in the dangerous areas in front.

And add to it that the first two goals of the series by Benny and Reino were deflections on set plays. It set the tone for how Vasilevskiy was playing (really overplaying) the puck all series because that is the way to beat a big goaltender like him.

I don’t care who we play whether it’s Ottawa or Toronto. If we play them hard like we played against Tampa, it will be extremely difficult for any team to beat us.

But if I HAD to pick….selfishly, I hope it’s Ottawa only for entertainment purposes. Tkachuk bowl in the playoffs would feed families.

I selfishly want to end the core in Toronto, but would be 100% fine giving the Sens a taste of what the rest of the division loathes too.
