Whatever keeps you warm at night, I guess. This proves nothing about any current favoritism towards FL.
If you think it’s all so damn corrupt, why do you even bother with it?

Sure it does, it proves everything. It’s obvious to every fan that the panthers get away with more than other teams, and this is the proof we need to know exactly why they do.

Campbell has been interfering with the officiating in the league around his son for 20 years

Instead of me quitting hockey, I think the right answer for everyone here is that Campbell should be fired. Should have been fired decades ago

i wouldn't be so sure.

with the deadline acquisitions, FLA has a deeper PK group, has offset the loss of montour and with marchand coming alive, would seem to have a (maybe significant) advantage with its bottom 6. we still haven't seen FLA at full strength (and probably won't this postseason with tkachuk still dealing with his groin) but they still looked very good in making quick work of TBL.

no doubt the leafs are a better team and are playing a style that's more amenable to the playoffs but they are not generating a lot of offense. the panthers are playing a smothering defensive style and PK is looking very good with 3 very good to great pairs of Fs (barkov and reinhart being the top 2) which should slow down the TOR PP.

should be fun to watch but if FLA top 6 can battle TOR top 6 to a draw (like 2 years ago), FLA should have the advantage. it's probably going to come down to whether "the core 4" can be real difference makers.
My honest opinion, Leafs probably have a 30-35 percent chance of winning this series. They can't afford to lay an egg like they did in game 5 vs Ottawa.

Homer voted Leafs in 7, but wouldn't be shocked if Florida ended it in 5. They're the defending cup champs, back to back East champs.

The reason for my optimism

Tkachuk injured
Barkov maybe injured
Montour gone

+ The Leafs additions

I’m about in the same spot as you. I think panthers should probably win in 5 if we don’t play the games and go by reputation, history and on paper.

30% chance for the leafs to win under whatever circumstances that happens sounds close enough to me too

I’m not here to defend Campbell.
You can assume anything you’d like to. It’s mostly “obvious” to the sour fans of teams that FL beat. This proves nothing about any favoritism relating to the current Panthers.

Just a big ready made excuse if things go badly for the Leafs

I think when this series ends the takeaway will be that Toronto stifled Florida's offense. Every game will likely be 2-1 or 3-2, but Florida is going to struggle mightily to score in this series.

Could go either way, I think. Bob has really had the leafs number.

Panthers aren’t a scary offensive team though

Where would you prefer I pin my hopes on? Are there different ways the leafs could approach this series? Sure there is. I think the best way for them to do it is to not retaliate against the rat pack and to bully the panthers weakest skilled players instead.
Why would they have to worry about retaliating against being forechecked cleanly and heavily? If the Leafs are skating around as worried about “cheap shots” as you are, they’re doomed.
I don’t think the Panthers’ “weakest skilled players” will be bullied by the Leafs, as they’re all pretty comfortable playing in a heavy game.

Lollol, do you even know the rules? Barkov never had the puck, was never eligible to be hit. But that’s favorable treatment for FL from the League. Come on, man.
They only think leafs should be able to cross check players in the face, then blame Campbell when they do it, and get suspended.

We don’t need to rehash this, but guentzel also wasn’t eligible to be hit.

Yes it is favoritism from the league through Colin Campbell and his son Gregory being AGM of the panthers

I don’t think the NHL should have suspended Hagel or tkachuck. But it’s pretty damning evidence that they ONLY suspended Hagel. Especially with Campbells history of manipulating officiating and discipline when his son is directly involved

The refs know who signs their pay cheques, and there has even been a lawsuit over a ref being fired for not playing ball with the Campbell family

Then why wasn’t Ekblad allowed to slide? Come on, man, if there’s some big conspiracy going on why was Ekblad punished? Tkachuk was thrown out of the game after his hit. Hagel wasnt. There is your discrepancy. They both got a game in the League’s eyes.
Give it a rest.

Ya I’ve said my piece, no need to go on and on and on about it, everyone knows my perspective on this by now

I'm going to be a little pedantic here... Tkachuk was not technically thrown out of the game in the sense that he received a game misconduct or match penalty. He was assessed a major penalty with exactly five minutes remaining, and sent to the dressing room as a result (they send players to the dressing room if they receive a major or ten-minute misconduct and their penalty minutes match or exceed the time remaining in the period). If the Bolts had somehow tied the game to force overtime, Tkachuk would have been eligible to return to play.

Its come to the point that we have to blame people in the front offices, for what happens on the ice. Its pathetic.

And people in here say its a "proven fact," like the NHL released a statement saying the Panthers get special treatment because a former Panthers player works in the front office. Facts mean there is proven evidence, not bullshit conspiracy theories because your team is 2-14 in closeout games, or won 2 rounds in forever, or that their last Stanley Cup banner was printed in black and white.

Its what happens when you have free time from April to October, and no hockey team to cheer for, you come up with shit in your head, spread it around the fellow Leafs followers, and make it believable because a "proven fact."

Right, so when Campbell was a Panther player and we sucked, he interfered so much back then right?

Wait.. the most penalized team this year got away with stuff........ hmmmmmm.... THE FIX IS IN!

It clear to me that those that think that Florida is just going to walk over Toronto don't watch Toronto and haven't in at least 2 years.

They still think It's 2023 and that the Leafs are still an all out run and gun hockey team that completely abandons defense.

They're not.

There are 2 reasons Ottawa lost to Toronto in round 1.

#1 Ottawa couldn't kill a penalty.

#2 Ottawa could barely get a shot, in game 6 at the end of the 1st they had 3 shots.

Nearly half way through the game they had 7.

That is what Toronto does now, they slow the game down, they block shots, they force mistakes and they capitalize.

They are NOT an exciting team to watch, not anymore now under Berube they are defense first.

This is going to be a long series, and the truth is It's probably going to be the most boring of round 2 in terms of excitement.

It's going to be a tougher series.

Just keep hearing Leafs got better
New system
Better goalies

And Florida just stagnated? Haha
They will find out soon enough.
Florida getting Jones was a massive addition but the thing is this Leafs team and the way it plays is way different than 2 years ago. They play a totally different Style and system under Berube. Last time they played Florida in the playoffs Bennett drove Knies head into the ice…. He never came back in the series, McMann was still in the AHL. Leafs had Lybushkin and Luke Schenn….. they now have OEL, Carlo, and Tanev.. completely different team. Leafs are also fairly healthy so we’ll see how this series plays out
