If the Panthers stay focused it's a bad matchup for the Leafs.
The reason why the Panthers are a good playoff team is. Evan Rodrigues steps up in the playoffs. So does Bennett, and Verhaeghe, and Lundell (which helps Luostarinen produce better). And Barkov, and Reinhart, and Tkachuk, all play at least a good as they usually do. And the whole team plays high level defense. Plus good goaltending. Which gives them the rep for being built for the playoffs.

Florida crushes smaller teams and teams who play a more rope a dope system like TB. Leafs for the most part are very structured from Berube’s style. Leafs are as big as Florida or maybe even bigger. Florida is clearly deeper as a team but I don’t think they’re going to be able to go around smashing guys like they did in Round 1. I think if there’s one team who could possibly be a matchup problem for Florida it’s the Leafs. They can go skill for skill and toughness for toughness. Only really clear advantage is in net.

yeah florida are favorite for what they did last 2 years but don't thibk it will be easy, you will hit a wall pretty fast and be sure it will be harder than tampa who was i jured and extremely soft. Don't think it will be as easy to go in front of the net of Stolarz than it was vs tampa..

I don't see the leafs having a great shot after watching them struggle vs the Sens. I thought the leafs were different this year but then I watched them get shut out in a close out game at home. The cats are going to win in 5 most likely.

A lot of these are defensible, but I think you're being a homer declaring Bennett better than Tavares and Jones better than Tanev.

I also don't think it's a given that Barkov is better than Matthews. This season, yes, he probably is. But if we're just looking at this season, then I'm not sure that Verhaeghe is better than Knies.

lol... this thread seems so toxic.

I think FLA definitely has to be considered the favorite, but it seems too much is being made of the fact that TOR didn't beat OTT more convincingly. I picked TOR to win that series in a six and it went six. I don't think that's a particularly bad or embarrassing outcome. I mean, VKG dropped two to Minny and WPG has lost three games to STL in other series between a division leader and a WC team. I seem to recall a lot of people thinking that OTT could be pesky and had the potential to pull of an upset as well.

FLA has obviously been the better playoff team and TOR has much more to prove, but I definitely don't see this series being a slaughter or anything like that. I'll be surprised if it doesn't last at least six games.
