Florida scored four goals in the previous two games last year and headed home for game 7 where Toronto has scored 1 in their previous two games and going on the road. They aren’t the same.
None of that is relevant. The point is simply that there is no momentum from one game to the next. The Leafs could win 7-1 tomorrow night and it would equally have no effect on the outcome of game 7 (assuming no injuries, changes, etc.). The Islanders were throttled 8--0 by Tampa a few years ago in a game 5, and then won game 6 in overtime. I expect the same in this series.

I wouldn't say that there's none whatsoever. While I do believe it's a thing, it's just a pretty minor thing from one to the next, especially in the playoffs.

Edit: I'll throw some arbitrary numbers on it for fun. Having won game 5 maybe makes the Panthers something like a whole 0.5% more likely to win game 6 than if the game were somehow in a vacuum instead. It's a very minor factor in the whole sort of general mish mash of things that could affect their probability of winning, but it's there if you ask me.

Really bad game at home. It was just one game but the problem is now you have to go win a game in Florida and if not your going home for good. Elimination games never feel good and until you win the next game that feeling doesn't go. Washington feeling that way now with the canes. Can Toronto bring it back for game 7?

wasnt just one game, they got shutout the night before. their scoring has completely dried up. they should be ashamed of their selves for the play they played.

would be nice if FLA didn't run Stolarz and take him out for the series basically winning right then and there. Woll is a good young goalie but he's far from playoff caliber at this point in his career

Woll stood on his f***ing head in game 4. Enough with this shit. It ain't the reason.

The Leafs have a chance to make the SCF without playing a single 100 point team on the way. Potentially the easiest path to the finals ever. No chance they blow it, right?

I’d think so, but Carolina is going to get some rest and will have played 10 games before the ECF while the Leafs will have played 13, including a 7 game series where the defence was getting drilled every shift.

Carolina will probably have way less wear and tear if Leafs win this series.

Agree. Florida absolutely did run Stolarz but it has nothing to do with Toronto being unable to score in critical playoff games. It's the same shit every year with our offense disappearing.

They've run our captain three series in a row. Tbh, I don't care anymore. I hope they run every single motherf***er they want to.

Would be nice if you’d just admit that Benny took a puck to the net trying to score and wasn’t running your goalie. Enough with this bullshit

Run the goalie? It looked like a player going to the net to try to score a goal to me. Happens pretty often especially in the playoffs and didn’t look like all that hard a hit. I wonder if Stolarz got hurt earlier.

Meh, didn't Carolina have pretty much the same scenario two years ago, and then they proceeded to be swept by Florida? The extra rest won't make any difference.

If Winnipeg is eliminated, the leafs will have home ice advantage through the cup final.

I have a very good feeling that Toronto wins Game 6.

Florida often struggles to put teams away on their first chance.

It's going to be a lot tighter for sure. The Leafs can now play without pressure again after a total f*** up. That's when they'll play fine.

I Think Toronto gets beat. As long as Mathew’s on this team they will never win a cup.I know he’s a great player but when the game has lots of hitting he disappears. As big as he is he has no backbone.Florida knows it. Tkachuk is gonna get into his head and Toronto has no answer. I think it’s gonna be like 5-1 Florida.

No wonder Leafs fans are so divided on their own players - the play on the ice and what sports media in Toronto are spewing don’t go hand in hand. I mean, Mike Johnson was “surprised” by Marner’s play in Game 5, even though it’s a repeat of the last 8-ish years. Then Kypreos calls out Marner’s linemates when Marner avoids a check, spino rama giveaway and no back check on the third goal.

No wonder so many Leaf fans are delusional when they listen to those guys
