GGs Panthers fans. Was a lot of fun talking smack with you guys. You definitely have a hell of a team and I think you are going to steamroll whoever in the ECF you face. Not shocked to see you sweep the Canes again.

Go get another cup and thank you for forcing real change with the Leafs
They haven't done that yet.

I'd like to report a murder. It happened at SBA last night.

Full credit Florida. We got spanked last night and full marks on the win. Wasn't even close

The Panthers still have another gear or two left unutilized thus far in the playoffs. This core went to the finals in 2023 with the over the hill Staal bros, Colin White, Zac Dalpe and Duclair in the lineup.

I get Marner is a very talented hockey player.

The core is setup to date to where Barkov is at 10, Chuk at 9.5 and then Reino at 8.625.
Marner on the open market will exceed Barkov's AAV, and I don't think Zito would want to add someone like Marner for over 10mil.
At this stage the core is set. Just need to keep revolving cap space for depth replacements, and potentially keeping Ekblad and Bennett. If Zito can re-sign both we would be tight on cap till Bob's contract expires next season.

I'd rather keep Bennett + Roidblad over adding Marner

I think Zito would, and may eventually will, add a player beyond Barky's salary, simply because of how the salaries and cap will go up, but I agree with it not being Marner.

I would be interested though to see Marner on the Panthers, and see what the coaching staff, and player environment, would do to him. Samoskevich said when he first made the squad, he had to evolve his game, and add hitting to it, because it was a requirement. I do not know if he would thrive or not, but it would be interesting to see.

Can anyone tell me what he was thinking here?

In what world is that a good idea

This I just do not get. There was no point in making that spin around back pass when there were several safer options. It was not one or the other, it was A, B, Off the glass, Ice the puck, THEN spin-o-rama backhand pass. Its like he was so afraid of the contact, that the spin away from the hit, and make the pass, would be the safer play for HIM, not the team.

Marner is playing like a junior league level player... but, don't get me wrong... he's still better than Reinhart!!

Leafs are getting shit on, and rightfully so. Just a f***ing embarrassment. At least lose with a little f***ing heart, a little emotion.

As a side note, congrats on a dominating showing last night, Panther fans. Full marks to the team. They're just a wagon. If the Leafs lose this series, which almost seems a certainty right now, Marner has played his last game in Toronto. It's almost a guarantee they'll use that money elsewhere, especially with Knies' overall performance in these playoffs.

And to think, if the reports are true, that Marner nixed a trade to Carolina for Rantanen.

One final note: f*** it. I'm going down with the ship. GLG.

You're right these losers are going to find it deep within them at this point of their careers when they have never shown that ability for a second. Why should anyone believe in them. I can take losses, I can't take back to back complete no shows.

Matthews and Marner are exactly what every has said they are. Not sure what else there is to say. Yeet them both, they can go win cups on teams they are not the main piece of if they can even manage that.

Idk at this point. Matthews is hurt, i get it. He still looks engaged but it's been the same story for nearly a decade.

"He's still good defensively"

Like, yes. He is. But when you're making the money he is, you need to score a goal in the playoffs once and a while. Marner is somehow even more useless. Not only can he not handle the tighter checking nature of the playoffs, he falls apart harder mentally too. Completely disengages from the game, starts floating, makes lazy/stupid plays like the backhander.

At this point maybe you just say screw it and trade Matthews while letting Marner walk. Bring Tavares back on a discount since he has actually been pretty solid. Knies/Nylander are your new leaders and go from there.

If Berube can't get these guys to rise up, then nothing will.

That was the Leafs Huberdeau for Tkachuk deal. That would have changed the complexion of the team.

Another thing you can look at, which is beyond changing now IMO, is the way they developed these players. The Panthers brought in players like Jagr and Hornqvist early on in the development years of Barkov, and Huberdeau, which taught them a lot of things that you see from Barkov today, who in turn has taught that to the younger players on the team as Barkov got older.

This is what you get for trying to shit on other teams for lack of playoff success. I hope you, and only you suffers as a fan.

What do you mean? Bringing in choke artists Marleau and Thornton to teach these kids not to care about winning and get the paycheck wasn't a good move? I am shocked!
