Geez Louise. What a clunker.

That Stolarz injury changed the series. And the core players disappearing again.

IMO, dont think the Leafs are a changed team this year in the playoffs. That series vs Ottawa racking up goals was against Ullmark who is among the worst playoffs goalies in recent times. If Sens had a good goalie, Leafs would had lost.

That was their entire game plan. Take out their most stable player and it changes the series.

You probably don't want that Holland type. Probably get rid of Shanny and work from there.
I,m sick of Shanny...wanted him gone before this.Just need a GM who has won. This team doesnt have the nastiness it takes to win in the playoffs. They have everything else, but thats only for the reg season.Need a GM to bring them in here.We had a rough team that led the league in fighting majors, and were good but that team lost after being up 3-1 vs Boston with Babcock, and Lamariello...but they had to blow it up i guess.Wish they could have tried again with that group but Reimer had to stand on his head too much.

New blood, imo, is a good thing. Not sure GMs who have won are the best, Lou kind of had that.

You're starting to have people that have been life long Leaf fans and going to die before they see their team win. Probably already happened.
Sure, people die every day unfortunately. There will be people following the playoffs today who won't see the Stanley Cup champion crowned this year. Thus is the human condition.

As it should be. That's the best thing a fan can do. At the end of the day, despite a rather embarrassing showing in game 5, it's still a 3-2 series and they could very well win the next two and move on. If they do that, then they can look at game 5 and say "yeah well that sucked, but we won anyway." Water under the bridge.
This series is far from over. The leafs will be a much better team in game 6. Win that one and then see what game 7 brings.

If they let Marner and Tavares walk, and bring in new blood, I don't see why not. We were not "us" totally until spring of 2023, and even then it took the Boston series to really convince ourselves that we were a great team and to show us how to win. I mean Tkachuk was an absolute megastar that playoffs and the whole season, but they could become something close to us.

I can’t think of times where I have disagreed with you more over the years. We are a unique team that is not easily constructed, with players that are buying into a coaches requests and system 110%, who will put their bodies on the line, and do whatever is required to win 4 rounds. It is an awful lot to ask players to sacrifice points and individual success, for the good of the team, especially when it could potentially cost them millions. These players are not easily found in this day and age.

Toronto does not have that, and will never have that with Matthews leading them. We’ve seen enough of him to know he does not have that dog in him, he is not the alpha male in the playoffs, and refuses to lead by example and make the non-goal scoring plays required to win. Nylander is the same. He’s pathetic in his own end, and again, will refuse to make those non-goal scoring plays required to win. I won’t even speak about Marner because he’s useless in the playoffs, and we don’t know of his future.

Bottom line is, their top players are soft, and they are losers. Nylander is the only one who has shown any heart, but again, is too flawed of a player. I don’t see any of them changing at this point of their careers.

One other thing is you mentioned Chucky. That was an organization-changing trade, that doesn’t happen that often. It added a dimension and a character to the Panthers that was lacking. I believe the Leafs had that chance to make that deal, by moving Marner for Rantanen, but that was never able to go through.
