He's been slurring his words bad all year, sometimes saying nonsensical (even for him) sentences. Has been especially bad at the end of the game stand ups. probably using everything he has to keep it together for the PBP. I don't particularly like him as an announcer but it's sad thing to see.

Not in the same season, but the benching of Fleury leading up to Sword-in-the-back Gate, was somewhat similar

Actually fleury was benched his vezina season as well. Sword in back was previous season when they traded for lehner and had lehner as playoff starter, but the covid division half year fleury won the vezina and was starter but got benched last 2 games of Montreal series.
