I tend to think, Bergeron has a lingering issue that likely got tweaked in 82. Then he probably did get sick and road that out. They have likely discussed with medical staff the long term, playing now vs. taking a rest and getting back in better shape in the later part of this series or maybe later rounds. If they are not desperate, why push him? It only gives other guys the opportunity to step up. Both will pay off later in the POs, 37 is not the linchpin to beat the cats.

I've seen 37 grind it out only to be beat down and drained come round 4, long term I don't mind this approach, if that's the thinking.

Here's hoping for a better game from Orlov and Lindholm. Not that either was awful in Game 1, but I felt that both weren't positive difference makers in the way I have grown to expect over the course of the season.

I'm thinking this one might go to OT as the Panthers try their hardest to steal a game in Boston. But I'm optimistic the B's can pull it out.

Florida's only chance at an upset this series is with a win tonight with Bennett back and Bergeron out. Think they lose 4-3 in OT and this winds up a sweep.

The Big Smoke (unfortunately)
After reading the pre-game thread all I can say is Go Bruins!!!!

Florida coming out fast and hitting everything in sight and taking a million shots reminded me of how the Bruins used to play - and lose. Going a million miles an hour only serves to wear you out. Boston’s good enough that all they have to worry about it is playing their game and sticking with the process. The confidence is there, the skill is there and the depth is there so all they have to do is play their game.

I remain calm.

Go Bruins!!!!

Edit: crap, thought this was the GDT on the Bruins board.

Game 1 was definitely a 'grind it out' type victory and the Bruins got some big performances from Bertuzzi, Ullmark (who I thought was shaky early), McAvoy and Hall. I thought Marchand, despote the goal, was truly awful. I lost count of the amount of needless giveaways half way through the 2nd period.
Also probabl;y the worst performance of Linholm's Bruin's career - he looked unwell and off his game (perhaps that bug?).

Despite all of that, the Bruins depth got them through quite comfortably in the end. A few short years ago, Brandon Carlo was out (concussion prone) 2nd D-man and now he sits 4th on our depth chart even though he is just entering his prime and his general play has improved.

I thought Florida made the right tactical choice to try and squeeze up on the Bruins and risk odd-man rushes - if they don't take these choices I can't see how they are going to win a game.
On the flip-side, the high volume/low quality shots don't feel like they are going to result in much success against such a defensively disciplined team with a great goalie.

Be nice to see a fast start tonight, but mostly the Bruins tend to ramp it up in the 3rd period.

Here is the Florida Line Up Card that for some reason isn't showing up in the GDT

Just a note: I take the background image from the team's website and then add the writing and additional styling

Bennett back and no Bergeron, should be an interesting game 2
Agreed. B’s better bring their A’ game tonight. Panthers WITH Bennett will be hungry. Always loved Bennetts game

Gotta think if the Panthers lose tonight its all but over. They arent going to win 4 of 6
One game at a time. We were up on the Flyers 3-0 once upon a time. I’m not writing off the Panthers, they’re a dangerous team
