team needs to figure out how to close out series....

It hasn't been a problem. They won 9 of their last 10 series.

Out the 9 series they've won, they closed the series 4 times on their first chance to do it.

4 other times it took them a second game. And then there's the final against Edmonton.

When a team is down 0-3 in a series, they will win game 4 90% of the time (I didn't verify this stats, but it must be pretty close ot 90%).

Last game was almost like scheduled loss.

For some reason, it usually takes 2 tries.

Washington - Took 1 try winning in 6
Boston - Game 7 so 1 try
Toronto - Lost Game 4, ended it Game 5. 2 tries
Carolina - Sweep so 1 try
Tampa - Lost game 4, finished in 5. 2 tries
Boston- Lost Game 5, finished in 6. 2 tries
Rags - 1 Try ended in 6.
Edmonton. Took 4 tries
Tampa. 1 try. Ended in Game 5
Toronto. Lost Game 6 ended in 7. 2 tries
Carolina - TBD but we are on our 2nd try.

So since Washington we are 10 - 7 in close out games. If you want to remove the Washington series as that's a different era we are 9-7.

Meanwhile, on the oilers board, people are actually actively wishing for Panthers-Canes to go at least another two games because then the chance of injury goes up.

Do you realize that by that logic, you are admitting that the Panthers need to have a significant number of injuries before your team even has a chance? Yeah, good luck with that.

idk if this episode has been shared yet but i've been following this guy (ex-nhl video coach) and his breakdowns are great. combine this with maurice's two pressers and i think you have a pretty good sense of what happened. imo, the "lousy effort" side is just venting frustration; the reality is the canes played a very good game. we probably weren't as good as we have been in our details but it was not an awful game.

Same as game 6 versus Toronto. We can be shut down at times too, but not regularily.

Canes have a good system but can they do that 4 times out of 7?

Not likely. I think that's true for most teams.

No, the win rate is about 25%, not 90%.

FOLLOW THE MONEY
Sweeps are bad for business (unless you're in the janitorial trade).
Arena attendance (we may lose but let me wet my beak)
TV revenue (we spent a lot of money for this, we need to recoup)
Sports betting (self explanatory)

KIND HEARTED SCOUNDRELS
You may have tried to hurt our player but it's okay, here's a win.
See, we're not so mean.
Our bad press and reputation needs to be tempered.

JEYKLL & HYDE
It's non-epidemic, we're just schizophrenic.
Occasionally home-o-phobic.
Ice cream headlines: Tutti Frutti, let's play too cutie.

MAYBE, JUST MAYBE this group is....
so dysfunctional, they abhor rest, relaxation and home cooking (unless it's game seven)?
a mildly sadistic, oddly masochistic, unique mutation?
an easily bored collection of adrenalin junkies?
easy money, game seven win
