Boston would be a much more preferable matchup on paper, but still a big yikes cause it's Boston. It's a much more winnable series sure. But I feel like asking for Boston is like deciding to open the basement door in a horror movie

I get the appeal of Boston, but the fear of facing TB by some here is not a good look.

Fear is an evolutionary response to a threat and should be embraced as it guarantees a response to counter the fear and nullify the threat. It is, I suppose, what fans develop in order to feel an emotional connection to the sport.

That said, Leafs opposition should be the one fearing the Leafs, if this team is a genuine Cup threat. Maybe a George Patton speech should be inserted here lol.

Road out of the East likely goes through Tampa for us one way or another, so whatever imo. Both winnable series, Boston more so, but not too fussed about that personally. That said, if you have the choice you’d choose to play the better team later, not earlier, so I think the comments here are understandable

Leafs should have shown a little more fear/worry/respect of their opponent the last 2 playoffs.

Tempa in 6, but hoping its Leafs in 6
Tempa?

God help me, I do love it so.

Ideally, Leafs would face Boston and it's time for the revenge. They must have to overcome this.

I wouldn't call it fear, I think it's just a matter of being rational. I think we have a really good shot against Tampa, but let's break it down: either we are going to play:
- the back to back champs, where I think are odds are about 50/50 (most analysts would probably view us as underdogs)
- or the Bruins, who still have a great top line and an elite dman in McAvoy, but really not much else. With home ice, I think we're 60/40 favourites in this series, at least.

So it's really just a matter of maximizing our odds of winning our first series in two decades (and hopefully more!). Do we have a good chance against Tampa? Definitely. Are our odds significantly better against Boston? I would definitely say so.

Don't really care who they play. The path to the cup final probably goes through Florida and Tampa irregardless of who they get in the first round. You just change the timing of when you face them.
