they've never faced an opponent with as much or more offensive depth and scoring as them though. they will have their match.

Many of us (I was one of them) thought the Leafs might not even be a playoff team with the loss of Hyman, Bogosian and even Galchenyuk (plus the expected walking of Foligno).
Dubas made some calculated, shrewd if imperfect moves in the offseason and it worked. I didn't watch much of the first few games, not sold on the team. They overcame early adversity to play for one another and dominate the regular season like no other, the deals to the deadline helped.
Here we are again. They have shown they are as talented as any team and have beaten T.B already. It will come down, once again to will in the playoffs against a team despised by many fans of the NHL.
As a believer in psychology in sports I think that a healthy dose of hate for T.B in the Leafs room would do wonders. Take that hatred and have it translated into sacrifice and desire on the ice.

This is the key here, do the Leafs players have enough of that will to win. Matthews looks different to me this year... focused. Marner worked on his game this year, he's focused. These seem to be changed guys to me... and now, we put that to the test. Your best players need to be your best, and your leaders need to lead.
I don't care much that Tampa won the last two Cups, or much of any of the regular season stats. I don't care about the sixty goals, or anything. You want to win, you have to make it happen..
I do have a good feeling this year, and the past few years, I've had a quiet dread... I dunno, I think they are going to win a round or two minimum here.

Tampa is tough, and it is obvious. And here we go again with the blind faith comments like “we’ll steamroll” TB as the boys are ready and focused. Jeez, you never learn, as these are the same guys who despised habs last year. No wonder, there is a consensus that Leafs fans are obnoxious.

I have no idea how these things are really considered but they could finish the season within a point of each other and if not only a couple. Would the back to back champs not get the edge?

Greatest match would mean we take them to at least game 6, but we all know that won't happen happy if we take two wins. Atleast it would be the end of Dubas and this garbage management we have put up with.

My thoughts exactly. Advantage Leafs for having home ice is balanced by advantage Lightning for being the previous champions.

What I like about this series is the Leafs will have to be on their best behaviour to have any success. Win and we exorcise major playoff demons. Lose and we will have seen a championship caliber team up close and personal and that will be a more educational experience for this group than playing Columbus or Montreal or even Boston a bunch of times. Let’s just get it done!
