Nylander has been great in every game, do not understand people that say is invisable. His production has also been fairly even spread out, and not heavily in some blowout.

Because he is invisible for 5 shifts before doing something great in 1-2 shifts then disapearing again. He's been trending upwards though which is a good thing and has a good chance of being the MVP if he continues to do just that. Getting on the scoring sheet without playing exceptionally well is a good thing though so in the end he always does something well.

Agree that Strome hasn't been anywhere near dominant. He looks slow and uninterested, but then again that's how I felt about Tavares. So who knows

Anyone who watched Tavares in the WJC's knows he was in God mode. To compare him to Strome is absurd.

CAN: Chabot
Russia: Kaprizov
Sweden: Erikson Ek
USA: Greenway

Call me a hater, but he's not our nominee. Chabot and Barzal have been our best players, with the former really establishing himself here in the QF
Strome WAS our nominee, but that's why you don't hand these things out at the midway point of the tourney. Chabot just grabbed the reins and if he has another game or two like the QF, he might just win the damn MVP!

Besides the US, whichever team wins Gold will have the MVP, imo:

Canada: Chabot
Russia:Kaprizov
Sweden: Nylander

If the US wins, you can draw straws btw those guys (unless Parsons stands on his head).

What does "invisible" even mean? I see him making good, subtle plays almost every shift. Just because it doesn't directly lead to a goal or a scoring chance doesn't mean he is invisible.
I saw him getting a bit comfy yesterday though when we were up 5-0, but that's pretty much junior hockey in a nutshell.

Lol at people saying Strome. So many better payers to choose. Strome should be dominating this tournament

There's no other player I have been watching as much in this tournament as Nylander and I cant even say that with a straight face, he's not been bad. He's been good. But MVP? He's doing great stuff from time to time, but meanwhile he has shifts where he is just "there" without putting effort in to it. Lacking intensity, being a bit comfortable. But in the end, as I already said as long as he is producing, which he has against all teams, I cant really complain what he brings.

But as far as MVP I dont think he's the MVP of team Sweden. To me both Grundström and Eriksson Ek have been more important to team Sweden but Nylandersstock has risen and he is trending upwards since the first few games and if he continues this way yeah I wont have a problem with him being mentioned in the MVP discussion.

Sweden: Nylander
Canada: Chabot
USA; Greenway or Parsons
Russia; Kaprizov or Samsonov

This is a projection. If Russia or USA wins the tournament, they will need their goalies to stand on their head as Parsons did against the Swiss. LOL still can't believe USA's goalie was their best player in a game versus Switzerland.

I am not saying he should get anything, but Nico Hischier on Switzerland was electric last night against the US. He was a lot of fun to watch. Young too.

I meant that's how I felt about Tavares watching him in Oshawa.

With the final between USA and Canada the MVP will be McAvoy or Chabot. Minute eating #1 D.

Chabot is a good choice for Canada but I am not sure Cirelli hasn't been Canadas best player. He has been real important for them.

Up to this point, it has been Chabot in my view. While he didn't have his best game against Sweden, he's eating a ton of minutes in Myers's absence and was a dominant force in the game against Czech Republic. Cirelli would be second on my list. After that, Roy has been consistent throughout, Gauthier has 4 goals in the last two games, and Stephens has been a force since returning from injury (he did miss two games, though). While the criticism that Barzal has received the last few games around his passing (or lack thereof) and decision-making has been warranted, he's been a dynamic offensive presence for us so far and has created a ton of scoring opportunities.

My take on Strome is that he's been really good on the PP, and average at ES. He had his best game last night, IMO. I expected much more from a #3OA, 19-year old returning player. He has an opportunity to change that impression tonight.

He may not win MVP, but the most dangerous (and electrifying) player in this tournament has been Kaprizov without question.
