Take It To The Limit is a classic, but a huge reason as to why he left the band originally. Meisner had a very underrated voice.

RIP
frey was that main reason.

i get it. frey gets sick and tired of doing take it easy live every time. same with blackmore/smoke on the water, for the fans y'know?

it sure shows as an example as to how the big 3 of the eagles (frey, henley, azoff) are as being real scummy people. meisner was regarded as someone who never existed by these 3 once he left. the guy was on 6 of their albums and was a co-founder of the band.

even if he did do this with a cheap guitar felder should have smashed frey with it

This one hits hard. Meisner was my favourite Eagle. His performance of Take it to the Limit was the highlight of the Eagles for me, not Hotel California. Meisner crushes this song, and at the end even Frey is smiling.

Thanks for that.:thumbu:

I remember I read Don Felders book on his time in the Eagles, maybe around 15 years ago, and what an eye opener it was. I absolutely LOVE the Eagles and always have and always will, but it made me see them all in a different light. Highly recommended book if you can get your hands on it.

There is a reason why Don Henley has made it clear he will never be on the same stage with Felder. The book was an eye opener. But it did not say anything we all did not already suspect--so it goes without saying Henley and Frey were pissed

On the other hand, without Frey and Henley, you wouldn't probably even know who Randy Meisner was.

No offense to Meisner; I just don't like this 'good—evil' juxtaposition.

fair point. w/o sting not many will know who andy summers and stewart copeland are. w/o jagger and richards not many will know the rest of the rolling stones. and so on.

you don't have to like/agree with who is good/evil. i'm just pointing out that the reality based on what transpired in the eagles' band membership history is that henley, azoff and mainly frey were just dicks.

It's not surprising they saved this one for their encores... it's just an absolute beauty of a tune with incredible lyrics!

All alone at the end of the evening
And the bright lights have faded to blue
I was thinking 'bout a woman
Who might have loved me
I never knew
You know I've always been a dreamer (spent my life running round)
And it's so hard to change
Can't seem to settle down
But the dreams I've seen lately
Keep on turning out and burning out and turning out the same

So put me on a highway
Show me a sign
Take it to the limit
One more time
You can spend all your time making money
You can spend all your love making time
If it all fell to pieces tomorrow
Would you still be mine?
And when you're looking for your freedom (nobody seems to care)
And you can't find the door
(Can't find it anywhere)
When there's nothing to believe in
Still you're coming back
You're running back
You're coming back for more...
Put me on a highway
Show me a sign
Take it to the limit
One more time

HF really needs to change their love/appreciation emoji. I love your comment, but the only emoji to represent that looks like I'm lusting after you like a teenage boy whose parents forgot to enable parental porn controls on his internet.

deep track fans know him from Poco and he also played with Ricky Nelson's band

interestingly, Timmy Schmidt replaced Meisner in both Poco and The Eagles
