I feel like Larkin is the face of the franchise. Unless Detroit was offered something absolutely unreasonable (in the form of an overpayment) he’s not going to be moved.

Maybe my memory fails. He turned into a very good player, but I feel like his stock wasn’t super high at the time of the trade. Maybe I’m wrong though, in which case you got me. It just seems like draft picks and B prospects are the more realistic currency.

Why wouldn't Detroit sign him? They have cap they have need and he's young enough? They don't win a trade sending him out most likely. At some point Detroit has to at least try to start competing. They have enough good young pieces at this point purposely sabotaging the lineup isn't helpful in my view.

Why I'm asking.
I can see teams with the obvious need.
Can't see many with the need, space and prospect to offer.
Colorado, with Newhook, could be closest. But space for resigning is the issue.

Yzerman isn't dealing Larkin, If he were it would've happen at the draft.

I guess you haven't followed Yzermans pressers at all, Where he stated that both he and Larkin would've loved to have gotten a deal done before the start of the season. but it's not imperative that a deal gets done now. Yzerman has said numerous times that he has until June 30th to get a deal done and it will get done.

Fiala got Faber (nice prospect) and a first.
And I think Larkin is more valuable than Fiala.

More valuable than Reinhart, too, cause Reinhart can't stick at center.
