I didn't understand not matching Holloway, and I still don't.

It's unfortunate to, he loved Edmonton and will miss playing that high intensity playoff hockey

I’m sorry. But I don’t buy the cope argument. This two players are gone and the team is better than it was last year. We don’t miss them at all.

It’s not just about being better for 1 year. Holloway and Broberg could have potentially made the Oilers better for the next 8 years after this year.

I really do not care about the implications for Edmonton, but if you think any team wouldn't be better with Dylan Holloway you are wrong.

What if Holloway was still an Oiler and the Oilers are lower in the standings?

The Oilers look really good right now and that’s without Kane too

I think the primary reason why he wasn’t matched was because him and Broberg teamed up in an unprecedented way to put the Oilers in a bad spot. I imagine that many ownership or management groups wouldn’t feel slighted.

That being said I doubt Oilers management expected Holloway to break out quite like this. Also I doubt he would have the same production in Edmonton that he has had in St. Louis. Edmonton is doing fine but they could of used Holloway this year:
