I just noticed this online and didn't see a thread. So I created one! Nice to have that taken care of!

More than I thought. But not bad.I just noticed this online and didn't see a thread. So I created one! Nice to have that taken care of!
Dunn agrees to terms on one-year deal
The fact that it’s a one year deal makes me think we’re prepping to lose him in the expansion draft. But hey, load up this year and give it a run.
Yeah, agreed. “If I were DA”, I would protect Parayko, Krug, and Dunn and hope that Faulk or Scandella is Seattle’s choice. Keep Dunn and stay younger and cheaper on the blue line.Or at the very least there isn't interest in signing him long-term right now, which shouldn't be a huge surprise. But after listening to an Armstrong interview a few weeks ago he seemed adament that he sees Dunn as a vital part of this team, and it didn't just seem like lip service to me.

I don’t see that. They want to keep this years hit down and make him show he is top 4 guy before paying him as such. The fact that it’s a one year deal makes me think we’re prepping to lose him in the expansion draft. But hey, load up this year and give it a run.
He doesn’t have a contract though for the following year, so the Blues don’t have to protect him (unless he’s signed before the expansion draft)...this could be a shrewd move by DA to keep Dunn and not expose him. (Unless there are different expansion draft rules for RFAs...I can’t recall). And, what was said above - trying to keep cap hit down for this year. The fact that it’s a one year deal makes me think we’re prepping to lose him in the expansion draft. It is different for RFA’s. Still under a team’s control. He doesn’t have a contract though for the following year though, so the Blues don’t have to protect him (unless he’s signed before the expansion draft)...this could be a shrewd move by DA to keep Dunn and not expose him. You’re right, thanksIt is different for RFA’s. Still under a team’s control.
I can't believe that people have zero faith in a team that hasn't even broke training camp.Meh wanted to trade him. At least he’s cheap.
Can’t believe we really gonna skate a team against the likes of Colorado that has half the d core made up of Torey Krug, Justin Faulk, and Vince Dunn though.

I like Scandella but I agree about protecting Dunn. Defensemen take longer to develop in the NHL and Dunn is still very young for dman standards. I think he has a lot of potential and is an extremely good offensive defenseman when he’s on. I can see Faulk having a good year and making the decision a little harder.Yeah, agreed. “If I were DA”, I would protect Parayko, Krug, and Dunn and hope that Faulk or Scandella is Seattle’s choice. It's not just "some" criticism, it's a complete dog pile from a handful of people on here who seem to know for a fact that we are no longer contenders because Army let #27 walk. Why do we automatically assume that Berube isn't willing to tweak his coaching style and/or that this group of forwards will forget how to forecheck and battle for pucks? So any criticism is zero faith then? Perhaps you just have blind faith hmmm?
It’s perfectly acceptable to question the make up of the team. I didn’t condemn the team. The Blues have been successful playing largely one way for almost a decade. Now they’re trying to completely change that. It’s fair to question it

I think we have to take the entire "bubble playoff" situation and throw it out the window. You can't base this teams potential on the trainwreck ending of last season.I’d argue it’s better to assume nothing, including that things will go well.
The truth is this version of the Blues is relatively unproven, especially on defense. Unproven teams aren’t contenders. It doesn’t mean they can’t become one and one quickly, but they don’t start the season as one.
There has been zero evidence that under the current circumstances that will be played that the Blues are worthy of being contenders. They sucked in the bubble with no fans. Well, the vast majority of their games will be played with no fans.
The defense in the bubble was atrocious. Well that defense has lost its best player and replaced him with a guy who has to play a different role than what he’s done before.
Yes! This is a Prove It contract. With The Expansion Draft as an extra option, and Faulk and Scandella as potential movable pieces, along with Dunn, for extra flexibility. depending upon how they all play this season. It's safer than making a move now when blind.I could see that, although I have my doubts where Dunn fits in long-term with Krug and Perunovich being similar type players and Mikkola coming up. He could be a potentially nice trade piece to get something back in the future, but no rush to make a decision on his future yet. I am definitely curious to see how the rest of the defense steps up in Petro's absence and I'd like to see Dunn show that he's taken a step forward this year. I didn't really see that last year.

Now that Petro isn’t c***b***ck the PP, Dunn will also be able to get more PP time.
