An even split of 14 home/road games and 14 each against playoff and non playoff teams based on today's standings. The Ducks were 17-19-5 in the first half of the season, and are off to a 7-5-1 start in the second half. If you break the season down into 27 game "thirds" (with a bonus game on the last one) they were 10-14-3 in the first third, and 14-10-3 in the second third.

How do you predict Anaheim to finish this season?

Depends. Can they fix their PP and score more goals? They are dead last in Goals for and 2nd to last on the PP….

Gibson is having his best year in like 6 years and Dostal has also been excellent but they cannot finish and a lot of the kids have seen their production numbers come down.

I don’t think Cronin is the guy for them, and good goaltending has clouded the issues of this team. Gave up over 40+ Shot on goal last game and give up the most SOG/G in the entire league, that really tells how good the goaltending has been for the Ducks.

I agree goaltending is propping us up, but look at the kings in the bottom 5 of both those things and 3rd in the division. God to they play boring hockey, just they are good at it.

You give up the most shots in the league and just got 40 hung on you by that boring ass team while scoring the fewest goals in the league lmao

The Kings make my eyes bleed nightly but come on man glass houses much, acknowledge the Ducks' part in that?

Oh I know ! Which is why I said “just they are good at it”, which I was trying to imply we play boring hockey and aren’t good at it.

Ducks had a long way to go from the 60 points or whatever they finished last season at. Montreal was at 76 points last season, which was 5th worst. So, a good step forward regardless of where they finish up. Negative is that they haven't seen as big a jump offensively from their young forward group. But, Cronin needed to improve their goals against, which they have done.

Haha fair enough

The Kings are usually good at keeping shots against down which is the biggest difference but as the Ducks seem to know when you play that type of game you're always one shot in or out of the game

So I don't see any reason the Ducks can't continue to tread .500 for the rest of the season and you would think natural kid growth as well as some shooting luck kicking in--even if the goaltending dips a little--they'd trend up. Also, non-playoff teams seem to feast on unaware playoff teams from Feb on, so I actually have the ducks right over .500 for the rest of the year and nipping at the WC heels.

We just need to boost our powerplay/pk to league average.

Also wouldn’t hurt to add a top 6 goal scorer to our top 9.

After that our system sucks, so we won’t truly take a step forward until we move away from Cronin.

Let zegras , minty, carlsson cook

We are 6-2 in our last 8 games. If we can somehow (a very tough ask I know) play the next 28 games in 4 (7 game splits) any 5-2 we end up w 94 pts and a possible playoff berth.

First 7 - we play Vancouver twice and Edmonton once as the “best” team during that stretch.

Next 7 - we play st blues twice / Utah once, Dallas and Washington (yikes this will be the true test if we pass the first one.

Next 7 - we play hurricanes / bruins / maple leafs / rangers on a home stand, and finish the 7 games @ Calgary.

Last 7 - we play Vancouver and Calgary in the first 3 and end the season against Colorado / wild / jets who may be resting key players as their playoff seeding is already locked in.

Here’s to praying

I don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing that team results are improving without a lot of progress from the young guys. I mean those stats aren’t great. Could indicate that once those guys do start taking off they could do some damage

but seriously what is with the numbers? Is this some Ducharme nuking caufields numbers type of situation?

Ducks are really 24-30 to be honest. OTL. NHL tries to hide the fact to make things interesting for the fan base.
Ducks are not at .500. They are 24-30. A loss is a loss no matter how you got it.
I am not a NHL of what the NHL considers to be .500 and the loser point needs to go. But the ducks are .500 in today's NHL

Thank you. Was just going to post this. But that is Bettmans NHL where every team gets a participation ribbon.
The standings are presented this way to give the illusion that you team is better than it is.

Yeah, no point debating if the standard for .500 is wrong. Poll's asking if they will finish above or below .500 by the definition the NHL uses.

IMO, we finish below by like 5 games, so out of bottom feeder territory. We will break our goalies in the process of not being a bottom feeder, but still!

The league counts points the way they do because even they know the horseshit circus of OT and shootouts is not the equivalent of real 5v5 hockey. Math is math and Benjamins are Benjamins and never the twain shall meet.
