Rumor: Dubas has told other teams "everyone is available, except 87."”

It wouldn't be Pickering as the plus, but Pettersson for a 1st and immediately flipping that 1st+ for Jiricek does make a lot of sense.
Perhaps, the 1st being a likely 20-30th OA makes the add-on to get Jiricek a pretty good amount.

Maybe the Finnish prospect acquired from Canes via Guentzel trade.

1st (20-30OA) + B prospect (Koivuenen or Broz) could be an offer the oens could make.

Would depend on how the other competing offers are for Jiricek league wide.

He signed it after he turned 35 and the last 2 years it has signing bonuses of 1 million making it a 35+ contract.

If it didn't have the bonuses it would not be a 35+ classified contract.

Isn't a 35+ contract the exact opposite of what he's claiming, even if the player retires, you still have the cap hit?

Indeed. Cause what do we mean by "fix"? They are 28th and 2pts from 32nd. So let's for argument sake suggest that keeping Sullivan has this team finishing bottom 6. I 100% believe that if you fired Sullivan and brought in any other coach, that they would finish higher than that. But the reality is, with the age of the roster, I think they are capable, at best, of 15th OV or so. This isn't a Cup contender and I don't think Dubas intentionally built it to be. I do think they thought they'd be better but it is what it is.

This happens to all teams eventually.
I don't think any coach gets them any better than bottom ten in the league but why take the chance? It's better to both plummet and humiliate Sullivan at the same time.

My bet is they're gonna try and tank for Gavin McKenna, Landon Dupont and co. while also drafting Frondell.

Or the next big thing from the QMJHL to follow in Mario and Crosby's footsteps. :sarcasm:

Pettersson is a rental, we're not getting a 1st unless more pieces are involved.
Top rentals (and even some mediocre ones) go for 1st’s often. Just not when Kyle Dubas is trading them. Dubas himself paid a 1st twice for rentals in Toronto in Foligno and O’reilly.

This upcoming draft isn’t being panned as particularly deep so I could see teams who plan on picking in the late 1st be more apt to paying up. Again, though, they won’t need to when negotiating with Dubas. Just throw him a 3rd and a guy who you picked in the 4th 2 years ago plus an overpaid vet and he’ll be happy.

I disagree, Dubas has extracted pretty solid value in his trades. Some UFA signings, not so much.

Of course we're tanking. As well we should!

Can anyone point out a trade - a single trade - where Dubas extracted above market value?

The McCann trade with Sleepy doesn't count, since he immediately elected to protect Justin friggin Holl over him in the expansion draft lmao

The problem with a PIT firesale is that beyond Petterson (and Eller who they already moved) they have exactly zero assets worth anything. Maybe O'Connor gets you like a 4th?

We had Jake but sold him for a bunch of mid pieces and a negative value asset in Bunting. He was the key piece to start everything and Dubas laid a turd in the middle of the room.

I've been advocating for this highly this year. Finish bottom 5 this year, take Martone or Misa. Send out a couple guys like Rakell and Karlsson, finish bottom 3 next year, win the lottery and take McKenna.

It's not enough to just be bad and get high picks. You have to get them at the right time when the right players are available. I believe McKenna is someone worth do that for.

Sid's last year:
McGroarty-Sid-Rust
XXXX-McKenna-Misa

Then McGroarty-McKenna-Misa as your top line for the future.

What is the Jets fans' obsession with Crosby?

Literally read the f***ing title of the thread.
Rumblings behind the scenes are that Crosby's reaching his breaking point and things are changing. It obviously comes down to if he wants to move. It's the f****ing internet, dude. Jesus.

Also Mcgroarty will never be a top line player. Dude can't skate even at the AHL level. Pens need way more than him.

Well thank you for letting us Penguins fans know. You would certainly know better than us.

Jets go all in:

Perfetti, Yager, Lambert+1st+2nd for Crosby+Petterrsson!

edit: forgot about Salomonsson. Throw him in there too. Future RHD stud
Crosby is great and would be a nice add, but personally not interested in moving that much.

That, and his name not even being out there.

In letangs case, if he retires there's no cap relief, due to the signing bonuses that are in the last 2 years.

From Puckpedia:

"Now, a contract is not considered "35+" if:

-total compensation either stays the same or increases from one year to the subsequent year

-there are no signing bonuses after Year 1"

So the signing bonuses in the last 2 years have f***ed the Pens.
