Some idiot takes 50 xanax and chugs a bottle of vodka; our reaction is to restrict xanax further. That's pretty much insanity. It simply makes the people who benefit from legitimate medication have a tough and tougher time. People who are addicts will find something to use for it. Do we ban compressed air, benadryl, cold pills? While that's not to say we should be handing out oxy like candy, when you have someone with a severe, chronic condition/pain that will ultimately necessitate a revisionary surgery, for the third or fourth and final time, and the pharmacist scoffs at them, think it over, perhaps.
