With the 43rd pick of the 2015 draft LA selects D Erik Cernak

Beast player. 6'3'' 205lbs. Great skater, loves throwing big hits, moves the puck well up the ice, good shot. Has all the tools. Downside is the the toolbox is currently missing. Doesn't read the ice that well and prone to bad penalties. Wants to do too much sometimes.

My projection: Shutdown 2nd pairing D
NHL comparaison: Zach Bogosian

Big, mean defenseman. I kept getting >< that close to doing a video on him. Looks like I'll have to do that now ;)

Blah. Guess we don't have enough defensive defensemen in the system.

I wouldn't classify him strictly defensive. He has good offensive instincts. Not too mention the hands, skating and shot to pull it off. Hasn't been shown much due to level of competition he's played at. This year at WJC he'll anchor the Slovak PP so watch out for him there (mostly likely place most NA fans will see him I think). He will show you something.

WIth Lintu as our best young D prospect and the guy I think will come up and be a true #2 capable D in a year or two I like having a solid young D like Cernak in the system. This is a good pick. I would have liked Harkins better but this is also a good pick.

Chlapik and Harkins were guys I liked. I trust the scouting team tho.

Doesn't hurt to have extra D in the fold. LA always values defense first when all things are equal.

I expect Gravel, Forbort and Lintu to be the defensive rocks in the future if they keep developing well.

The Kings know how to develop defensemen, and you can never have too many of them as assets.

I always hated it when the Kings drafted defensemen, just because forwards are so much more sexy to draft.

After 2 cups I have started to appreciate defense.

Though I cant deny I hoped the Kings drafted Dutch player Daniel Sprong.

40 goal scorer that was still available. Would not suprise me at all, he turns into a Toffoli kind of player.

You must remember Dean is all about the boxes and having adequate, quality
to develop to fill those boxes.

Cernak is RH and has top 4 potential. The Kings may have lost RH top 4 Voynov and
just traded one of their best RH D prospects, in Miller. Greene is about done as well,
and is RH. The only other emerging RH defenseman is LaDue. MacDermid and Ebert are RH, but probably not going to be top 4 RH.

Have 3 very strong LHs coming up in Forbert, Gravel and Lintuniemi.
Cernak was rated around 30-35 in some mocks. Good pick.

Corey Pronman on Espn had him as his 20th rank player....hopefully plays in the CHL....

I enjoyed Erik's post-draft interview at the Kings site. Half of the questions he misunderstood, but was kinda adorable. Of course he'll be fluent after spending about a year's time over there. Still, I really enjoy these interviews where they have about 100 words of vocabulary at disposal. :)

Actually you can see he is dumber than dirt.. how a kid, that is 18years old and knows that he is going to be drafted, cannot say more than "yeah" and "I'm happy"... so embarassing

WTF, He's a hockey player not a ****ing guest speaker, English isn't his first language, so what.

How did you respond when you were drafted? Not knowing the answer makes you "dumber than dirt".

yeah I like summer, summer hot city.. My favourite player is Shea Weber. What do you like about his game? His game? Marian Gaborik.. :D Have you met Gaborik or Sekera before ? Maybe.. :D oh come on.. it's hilarious

Come on, you can't really be calling Cernak "Dumber than Dirt". I don't like to dump on kids for not being fluid in a foreign language. Voynov couldn't speak more than two words of english when drafted and for some time after that along with many many other foreign born players who have gone on to great careers. I guess if it is all in fun then who cares but it doesn't sound like it.
