The Kings will put themselves over the cap just buying food for him, Dergachyev, and Cernak

One happy massive and lean freaking human  With that frame he should be able to add some muscle. Does he have any skill though? I'm not sure. I saw his teams games but not him. Hoping he has more skill than Auger.

Justin Auger actually has decent skill. Not sure why people think he doesn't.

Because I watched him play in junior is why I don't think he has skill. Only a bit this year true, but skill pretty always never develops at pro level (in fact it usually goes down due to filtered out bad players).

Not trying to say he's Weal level skill or anything, but people underrate Auger. Actually has good enough speed and hands for his size. I was probably the biggest critic of the Auger pick when Copp went the next pick, but after seeing him live all year, I think Schmalz trending the way Auger has would be great for him.

Meh honestly I can could give a rats ass about straight line speed. Anthony Peluso has straight line speed in abundance but he's still a barely AHL 4th liner. Auger's footspeed, agility, hands, and awareness are nowhere near good enough. I respect your opinion CNS, but in this case I disagree completely (much like with O'Neill). He is not an NHL prospect, IMO.

As for Schmalz I haven't seen enough of him to gauge.

With what little I've seen, Auger is a better skater and along the boards, but Schmalz is better with net presence.

What I LOVE about next season is that EVERY Kings fan will get their own chance at becoming a minor league scout and provide their own input on our prospects and it will be a treat to see what some of us see and think. No longer having to rely on people claiming to know what is what but truly having a shot at knowing things first hand and for themselves. As for both Schmalz and Auger while not entirely the same type of player(s) I see really solid bottom 6 type skills in different ways from each of them.
