NHL Draft lottery race II - Bruins locked into 5th before ping pong balls.

This draft is wide open for guys to be taken out of order. We will end up with a great prospect one way or another.

I still feel like we win the lottery.
Let's will this into existence. My morale is low thinking about picking 6 or 7. I really don't love Desnoyer or Obrien. For me, it's Misa, Hagens, Frondell or bust, so winning the lotto would be quite nice.

Don't dismiss Desnoyer, he is a special player! I've seen him a few times this year playing our Mooseheads and he was a difference maker every game. Him and Stumph beat us every game. Not sure who drafted Stumph but he is a true sniper.

You and I have the same thoughts.
O'Brien reminds me of Potsy, not a bad thing, but I think he is rated too high.
Watch the film on Desnoyer, 80% of his goals he scored would have been stopped by a good junior goalie.
If we are picking in the top 5, one of these players below will be available / would be happy with one of these.
Martone's skating speed worries me. If he can improve on his north to south speed and edges, he will be a very good NHL forward.
McQueens skating is even worse vs Martone's, so scratch him off the list.
Eklund reminds me of Willy Nylander.
I think he has great offensive upside. He needs to add some weight. His skating is NHL ready.
The transition to a smaller rink will take him some time to adjust to.
Frondell is big and strong on his skates, his skating is okay, moves better vs Martone and McQueen and is definitely more skilled vs Desnoyer and O'Brien.

Misa
Schaefer
Hagens
Frondell
Eklund

I haven't seen much of Eklund other than in Frondell videos, but I hope they favor skating ability over size with this pick because you're right, McQueen and Martone look lumbering.

I know they're big, but there are big guys who are very good skaters at that level and, when spending a top 5 pick, they should choose players who aren't projects. End of the 1st round? Sure, go crazy, it's a crapshoot back there.

Feels like the first draft since 2015 that’s exciting and we can get a true blue chip.

I’m sure someone in the top 6 could bust but I really feel comfortable with pretty much any of the consensus picks—there’s a decent level of parity from what I’ve heard
I feel comfortable with the consensus picks as well, though I’d prefer we land at 4.

I don’t feel at all comfortable that the Bruins will pick a consensus pick though, and that scares me.

Considering we dont have a guaranteed 2C in the pipeline even getting one of them at 6 or 7 would be a big win for the draft. sets us up better going forward. hitting on one of these will always help.

Pronman's latest ranking: NHL Draft 2025 prospects ranking: Matthew Schaefer leads Pronman’s April list, Michael Misa follows

Here's the top 11 in order since that is who he has in his top 3 tiers with their player comparison in parentheses.

Tier 1: All Star
Schaefer (Sanderson)

Tier 2: Bubble All Star / top of lineup
Misa (Seguin)
Desnoyers (Hischier)
Hagens (Nylander)
Martone (Robertson)

Tier 3: Top of lineup
Frondell (Zibanejad)
O'Brien (Elias Lindholm)
Eklund (Konecny)
McQueen (Byfield)
Aitcheson (Trouba)
Smith (Dumoulin)

Debate away.

If the Flyers pick ahead of us I have great confidence they will whiff

We could wind up with Pick 1, Pick 2, Pick 4, Pick 5, Pick 6, or Pick 7

Remember if a team below us wins either draw, we go down a spot. The only pick we can't get is #3.
The Bruins could still pick 3rd regardless of where they end up...the odds are just very unlikely. They would need the team in the 12th spot (currently Detroit) to win the first drawing which would give them the #2 pick. Then the Bruins would need to win the second drawing which would give them the #3 pick (since Detroit would be locked in at #2). Tankathon lists the odds of this happening at 0.3% but technically it is possible.

You and I should be sitting at the draft table! lol
After the top 15-20 picks the rest are a roll of the dice.

Pronman's list is interesting.

Where is Mrtka on the list?
IMO:
Misa belongs in Tier one. He will be a first line top 3 forward, not sure if LW or C will be his position?

Desnoyers/Martone belong in Tier three.

Frondell/Hagens and Eklund make my Tier 2.

The rest are tier 3.

Sacco fell on his sword and took one for the team by taking over behind the bench this season. He knew, as did we all, that he was being fed a juicy shitburger and I hope the Bruins take care of him.
I expect they will. However, I'm not going to let emotions get the better of me.

The Bruins ended with a PP% of 15.2% for the season. Which I think is 4th worst in League.

The PK% finished at 76.3% or good for or, I believe, 9th worst in League.

Yes, we sold hard at the TDL and had some key injuries on defense. But Joe Sacco was HC for most of that production and AHC for the rest.

Bruins aren't a powerhouse at the moment but the defense was in disarray from the get go and you could not buy goals for most of the season. This team overperformed last year and underperformed this year by a similar margin.

Joe Sacco did a great job as a placeholder. Nothing more. Nice guy and I wish him well, but he needs to move on.

Eklund's brother is William Eklund of the San Jose Sharks. He was the #7 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft. Ironic that his younger brother is projected to be picked around the same range. William Eklund had 17 goals and 41 Assists, 58 points in 76 games. He played a lot with Macklin Celebrini. William Eklund is 5'11", 181 lbs.

Is Victor, the younger brother of William, a clone or a better version of William Eklund? This kid seems like a solid pick if he can produce similar stats as his brother. Darkhorse, hockey pedigree.

That's interesting considering the postseason each are having, statistically.

Desnoyer: 7GP - 5 - 9- 14pts

Obrien: 8GP - 2 - 6 - 8pts

I wonder what cause Obrien to rise like that. Given the choice I prefer him to Desnoyer. He's got such good playmaking skills, he looks like Krejci to me in some instances with the feeds he makes
