So it's either a 19.3 or a 17.4 percent chance at a top-three pick, pending the outcome in Buffalo.

Not that much of a difference. Less than a 1 in 50 difference.

The only cumbersome point is on the back end, where the #4 pre-lottery spot is most likely to end up @#5 post-lottery and the #5 pre-lottery most likely ends up at #6 (I'm drawing these numbers from Tankathon).

Obviously, getting the #4 slot is superior but I feel that there's going to be a really, really good option wherever the Bruins end up picking. As much as I loathed the teardown emotionally, choosing to fail forward at the deadline really feels like the right decision.

There are good players for certain even if they pick #7.

what is the 3rd tie breaker?
Philly and the Bruins cannot tie. We have 26 regulation wins to the Sabres 21. We end up ahead of them.

If two teams are tied in points at the end of the regular season, here are the tiebreakers:
  • Regulation wins.
  • Regulation and overtime wins (ROW)
  • Total wins.
  • Most points earned in head-to-head competition: If teams had an uneven number of meetings, the first game played in the city that has the extra game is excluded.

Anyone have the chart handy what the lottery outcome percentages are for the 4th and 5th slots? Not the ones of winning outright, just staying in that spot, dropping one, dropping two etc.

If Philly gets 1 point out of their last game we are golden.
I agree, and the Philly players on the ice care nothing about a higher draft pick. They are going to show they belong on the team for next year. Like the way Lysell did tonight. Management may have other plans, like the way the Leafs tanked hard for Matthews and got him. The coach even admitted it was a plan.

So we're locked into 4th or 5th going into the lottery. I can live with that.

We're guaranteed 1 of the top 4 centers will be there at 5; Misa, Hagens, Desnoyers or Frondell. It's likely 2 of them will be there since Martone is a concensus top4 guy as well.
He’s not going to be a consensus top 4 guy by the time the lottery comes around.

I absolutely like OBrien ahead of McQueen but I’m seeing the opposite in a lot of rankings making me feel like I might be too high on O’Brien possibly.
Central scouting rankings was released today and I think it might change your mind
