NHL Draft lottery race - Bruins currently have 4th Pick

They can go two spots lower than where they finish. If they have the 4th worst record, they are actually most likely to pick 5th.

Now with them going to 6th after tonight they are most likely to draft 7th.

This is not accurate. Anyone with a bottom ten pick can win the lottery and get the first over all pick. You cannot jump more than ten spots.

Do you go bpa or positional need in this instance

I really really want a center. Probably the hardest thing in the NHL to acquire, because the good ones get snapped up quick in the draft, and teams are rightly very reluctant to let them go once they have them, until they're old or otherwise cooked. 1C is arguably the most important position on the ice. So if there is one available and your rate them, that's my pick barring any exceptional circumstances.

I think the Bruins are 4th because they’ve played one more game than the Flyers.

What is the tie breaker again? More regulation wins gives you the higher seed?

I think if we got one we’d take Misa if we couldn’t slide down a spot or two. At 2 it would be really hard not to take Schaefer. I haven’t done enough work yet to decide what I’d do. As of now I’d pick centers until 6 then take Martone, but that may change. I’d absolutely take Hagens 3 and I don’t know how anyone wouldn’t.

You get to 7 and now it’s all over the place if one of those kids doesn’t slide. Another winger in Eklund, a risk in McQueen, or a low ceiling guy in O’Brien. It’s so important to be at 4

You just go Misa, Frondell/Hagens, Martone, Desnoyers in that order. Hagens and Frondell are tied for me. Hagens might have higher upside after development, but also has more risk than Frondell who could be ready sooner with a higher floor, but doesn’t seem to have the same ceiling. If you’re at #1, trade back to no more than the 4 slot for one of these players ++

Easy. After Misa and Schaefer I'd go Desnoyers. I'm fine if they pick Hagens, but I think Desnoyers is a complete player. Or will be.
If we were to drop as far as 7 or 8 I'd likely go a little off rank and pick Bear. It would have been McQueen if not for the back issues.

I know you’re high on him but he’s well below Hagens and Frondell for me. I’m looking for top tier offense at that spot.

I don’t want anything to do with Bear that high.

You hope someone in front of you pulls a Sennecke with McQueen or one of the D.

Bear is likely out of the running in the top 10 because he had his Achilles tendon cut badly , shame I love the player

I don't know where some of these takes come from (ie O'Brien a low ceiling guy). Jake is the best playmaker in the draft and has great hockey IQ. He has the potential to be a very legitimate #1 center. That said, he also has more work to do to get there than some of the other players. in addition to developing his body (like almost everyone else), he will have to work on improving his skating. He has made strides this year, but still needs to be better

Low is probably too simplistic. But comparatively, he’s more of a stretch to be a top tier 80 point type of guy than the other four. As I mentioned above I’m not all the way there on what I would do in this range (not that that means anything whatsoever) but I don’t think you’re taking him before the other four. McQueen is obviously a bigger risk/reward guy and if he pops at that size he’s got a higher upside than O’Brien.

So it’s really a relative thing compared to the top 6-8 forwards.

I had a gut feeling about Hagens since the world junior’s, before I knew we’d be anywhere near that level, had the same thing the whole year before we got Seguin. I’m sure it’s nothing, but it would be cool if I was right again, unless we could do even better.

M. Schaefer if you get #1, people seem to forget we also don't have a true #1 D man ... argue all you want but C. Mac isn't one because he can't run a powerplay.

If he's the clear-cut No.1 as he supposedly is (really I have no idea), if somehow the Bruins get the 1st overall pick via the lottery, than that is who they need to take. I don't care who else they currently have on D. The LAST thing this franchise needs to do at this point is their smartest man in the room bullshit they like to do at the draft table.
