NHL Draft lottery III -May 5th- Bruins locked into 5th before ping pong balls.

I think that the most likely scenario is that one team moves up in the lottery (not two) and that Boston is at 6.

I think you can be sure Schaefer and Misa are gone 1/2. If, as assumed in this exercise, what Chicago does at 3 becomes a really important pick because I would bet my house that Nashville and Philly are going C. If Chicago takes a C, it means that Boston is going to be looking at Hagens, Frondell and Desnoyers all being gone and looking at either a 1st rate non-driver in Martone or looking at O'Brien. That's such a scary place for the GM to be vs "just take the center that is left" if Chicago takes Martone.

I hope we pick the best player available on our draft list.
Assuming your exercise is correct, IMO you take Eklund or Martone.
I have concerns picking Desnoyers.
His game in junior is very predictable, and has a pass first mentality.
His shot is average at best.
Skating is average.
He is a risky pick, if you think he will be a 1st line center some day.
Picking so high from the "Q" scares me as well.
The last top 5 pick from this league was 2020, Lafreniere was taken first....bet the Rangers would take Byfield/Sanderson/Stutzle or Raymond if they had to pick over again.

Which lottery is held first, for the first pick or the 2nd pick? If the latter, then a team could win the 2nd pick and then get bumped back to 3rd if a team with more points wins the 1st pick lottery. I can't think of another way that da Broons could end up with the 3rd pick.

OK, just read on TSN that the 1st pick lottery is held first. So how do they have a chance at the 3rd pick?

This is where I'm at and it's honestly the reason why it's going to feel like it's taking forever to get to the actual draft.

I feel like I've had the same conversation about this exact scenario 20 times now haha. Hopefully the Bruins can get the 1st or 2nd pick and avoid the scary situation. Martone or O'brien would be fine consolation prize, but I've grown to like the top 5's games too much after watching a decent amount.

Just to throw another name in there and change direction a bit, I will mention Mrtka if we fall to 7. I have just seen the one set of highlights and saw a couple of mentions so far, but huge d with skill are rare. I have a good feeling for some reason.

They would need the team in the 12th spot (Detroit) to win the first drawing which would give them the #2 pick. Then the Bruins would need to win the second drawing which would give them the #3 pick (since Detroit would be locked in at #2). Tankathon lists the odds of this happening at 0.3% but technically it is possible.

For a team with such a great track record of 2nd and 3rd rounders, god we f***ing blow in the 1st round.

Hopefully between number 1-6 we will walk away with at least a potential 1st line center (Misa, Frondell, Hagens) or a 2nd line center (Desnoyers, OBrien). If we get 7, hopefully someone above us takes Martone.
As long as we don't draft Zach Hamill

Top 100 rankings with a little spice to every player. Clearly a lot of effort went into this one and I agree with a lot of what he says.

Again, Martone has the wrong expectation if you want a Tkachuk or Perry..

Brady Martin of the Soo Greyhounds is another interesting prospect in the upcoming draft. A center. Righthanded shot. He had 72 points this season. 68 PIMs. He is one of those players that gets under opposing players skins. 6'0". 175 pounds.
Well, there's one I haven't seen. His skating looks like what I'd imagine mine looked back in the day - real wide, floats a bit but gets behind any defender if they let him draw even. Good power in his legs. Get him on a rowing machine and hire Whitesides to yell at him during his workout and he might have the wind to do even more positive things each shift.

Passing is metza-metz. Looks like he'll shoot from anywhere and get it on net or on his target in front.

Faceoffs look weak - looked like he exclusively tries to use his stick's toe.

Looked more like a winger in his own end, though that was from just one game.

Oh, and he looks like a devil on the forecheck. Not those tossers in Jersey, a real devil. From, like, hell or something.
