Would NHL teams trade up or down in the draft in order to get a guy they know has chemistry with another one of their prospects?

I think I probably would, if there were a couple guys with one being a bit more promising, but the other being a good fit with one of my other guys.

I doubt it. I think they take the best player available that fills a need. I don't think they put much stock into picking a certain player to play with a guy they have picked already. With trades and free agency, it's a constantly changing dynamic.

I think the Oilers are probably the only one dumb enough to do this. More than once. Rather than fill a need on the team or pick the best player and maybe move him for something that betters the team, they drafted guys to make lines with each other and that has pretty much been an abysmal failure.

What? Who have the Oilers drafted to "make lines with each other"? The only guys that played together at the WJHC were Hall and Eberle, and a)pretty sure they didn't play on the same line, b)Hall was the #1 ranked prospect in hockey.

I am basing on them drafting the same player in the first round for four straight years. Obviously they were looking to make offensive lines, otherwise why draft light, fast, smallish scoring forwards? Worse yet, why keep them when it is clearly not working?

Instead, they should have made trades and/or gotten defensemen and goalies.
