Prospect Info: Draft 2025 Habs you're on the clock

i'll fight you

I am going to be in the minority but I actually find this draft to be really intriguing. Many are saying that this years draft is not good. I bet at #16 and #17 the Habs could pull two really good prospects.

With the lack of high end talent many teams will be drafting based upon team needs as opposed to BPA. That or they will swing for the fences.

Schaefer, Misa, Martone, Frondell, Hagens, Desnoyer, O’Brien will all be gone by the #16 pick guaranteed. That’s seven right there.

Eklund, Smith, Mrtka, Eklund, Martin I have as the second tier and almost certain that none of those players will be available. That’s 12 players so far.

Now it becomes open;

Small skilled players; Kindel, Reschny, Potter, Schmidt

Big players; Lakovic, Spence, McQueen, Nesbitt

Middle six players who are a pain to play against; Bear, Cootes

Boom or bust scoring forward; Carbonneau

All round defencemen; Aitcheson, Hensler

Offensive defencemen; Reid, Boumedienne

There are many different ways that teams can draft there and some may surprise.

I’ll throw Ravensbergen, Zonnon, Ryabkin and Fiddler into a group of players who could be picked in the Montreal range but I don’t think will.

That is 15 players in the Habs pick range that I listed. There will be some good options available.

Personally I keep the picks, and I draft Spence and Aitcheson (unless some other higher caliber player fell to us)

These are two big bodies that can hit, have skill and will be very important for us in the playoffs.

So who's dropping if that happens?
I don't think going from 9 to 8 is seen as a "drop"

But yes, I can see a scenario how Martin slides into the top 7-8 and basically everyone not named Misa, Schaefer, Desnoyers, Hagens and Frondell can easily drop a spot here
