Posted this in the around the NHL thread but may as well post here as well.

On 31T today, Marek says Ottawa is between Sanderson/Quinn/Askarov at #5.

Elliotte says Askarov is in play for NJD at 7 as well.

Been saying this for a while!! Askarov is going to go early!!

The Scouching guy talked up three guys he liked in the 6th and 7th--Benjamin Baumgartner, Yegor Suchkov and Pavel Tyutnev. I think Steve Kourianos was high on Tyutnev too.

Baumgartner has a lot of flare. Just needs to work on the physical side, but could ultimately be a steal if he works on all three zones

I think Quinn is top 10 in this years draft. 5 is a tad high, but it’s certainly possible.

Can’t wait for the draft.

Totally bummed that I won’t be road tripping to the Bell center to watch it live. Damn Pandemic! Would have been an amazing experience for any NYR fan.

Was going to do the same!!

What is everyone’s prediction on what the Rangers will do with the 22nd pick? I know some feel they will trade it for an nhl player like a Center, some feel they will attempt to move up especially if a particular C falls a bit, and some feel that given the deepness if this draft they will stay put. Hard to predict

I have a feeling they're going to stay put and grab BPA. There are rumors they really like Greig, but not sure where they have other players ranked.

My want is for them to trade the pick for positional need (which might not be as good as initially thought seeing a potential Alex Wennberg buyout in Columbus. Just try to sign him.). As per @Edge, who has a few connections within, has mentioned Lundell and Holtz being on their high list. So maybe they move up? If they do, would rather them move Georgiev/Strome and No.22, but it'll depend who's available to select.

Some highlights....

- Quinn, indeed, has had multiple interviews with NJ. Also, spoke with Nashville.
- Sanderson, also, had multiple interviews with NJ and confirmed an interview with CBJ. Apparently is working on his one-timer along with his skating.
- Rossi had 3 interviews with Detroit. Also, mentions that he has worked with his coach on getting faster and stronger. Started working on this mid-March and apparently has shown good results.
- Byfield interviewed with both Ottawa and LA. No mention if he had one with NYR (even though we know the reason why he would).
- Perfetti is quite open in his interviews, but has expressed that he is not a "dump and chase" type of player. Wants to play fast with teammate coverage so he has room to be creative and make plays. Interesting mindset, but is the new style of hockey for sure. Mentions "dump and chase" style to be "stuck in the olden days".
- Drysdale, also, had a few interviews with Detroit.

Probably both Georgiev and Lindgren for either pick. NYR doesn't do it....

Probably not. It's more likely Gorton trades 22nd overall rather than is acquiring another 1st.

From a draft perspective, this rebuild kinda sucks. I wish Gorton used cap space as an asset like Yzerman is doing now. Oh well.

So if I'm looking at the final rankings of forwards in the range of the Rangers 22 pick, we're looking at a general group of Jarvis, Reichel, Greig, Bourque, Zary, Peterka, Perrault, Gunler, Amirov?

My gut top 3 from reading reports and highlights says Jarvis, Amirov, and Zary, but to be honest a lot of the guys profile very similarly, with relatively small nuances in their games.

Much as I'd love for him to be available at 22, I think it's wishful thinking to expect Jarvis to still be on the board.

Your lips to god's ears. I'd be doing backflips if we can get Jarvis at 22.

Look at the mock draft we as HFNYR have done here. Look at who is available.

Now assume that at least 3 of the players already picked will drop because teams will grab players that are just ranked lower. That ALWAYS happens. Chytil at 21 is a gerat example.

There will be some nice prospects sitting there on the board when we are on the clock

Jarvis probably isn't the kid I'd put money on dropping.

If we go by this board's mock draft, I'd say the prospects with higher odds to fall are:

Lapierre
Holloway
Amirov
Gunler
Zary

I'd be somewhat surprised if at least two of them aren't on the board at 22.

Lapierre has had a great pre season and there were 30+ scouts in attendance to watch him play his last game.

I have the sneaking suspicion he’s going to slide into the top 12.

If I had to rank those in order of how much I want them at 22:

1. Amirov
2. Gunler
3. Lapierre
4. Holloway
5. Zary

It hurts to put Gunler at 2

There are a lot of guys I'd be happy with at 22. My only point was that if you're expecting Jarvis to be on the board, you're probably setting yourself up for disappointment. I'd rather assume he won't be there and then if the Rangers somehow draft him at 22, I'll jump for joy.

He very well could.

You have a lot of scouts looking to see how he performs when healthy and motivated as well.

I said a month ago that Lapierre might be the prospect who has the most to gain or lose by this preseason.
