22. New York Rangers: Brendan Brisson, C, Chicago-USHL
Brisson and Halifax defenseman Justin Barron are two names I’ve heard speculated to the Rangers at No. 22. I’m skeptical of Brisson here because an undersized player with average skating and elite skill isn’t a typical high Rangers pick. But Barron’s recent medical procedure, which leaves him out indefinitely, might make him slide a few spots.

Great, we can add another prospect with average skating. lol At least he has elite skill.

I feel like every year there's is some surprise at how many defensemen are taken in the first round. There is probably a consensus of 5 dmen right now that go, but I'm wondering what some people here think happens at the draft. Will some forwards fall because teams just have a different outlook than most fans and analysts?

For sure thee are forwards who will fall... happens every year. Tarasenko, Barzal, etc. that’s why I think it’s very possible we could move up to the teens if one of these Centers fall. For whatever reason As history has shown us the 16OA pick seems like a good spot For guys to fall to like Tarasenko and Barzal did

Newhook and Krebs were on the board at 16 and 17. Really wish we could have found a way to get one of those picks.

i don't like this pick. It's not only not a Rangers pick, It's not the skill set I'd target. We don't need Brandon Pirri.

Unless they package the 22nd for someone or plan on moving up I still like the idea of moving back. You look at the team needs and what the future lineup could reasonably be, passing on Gunler, the Germans, Holloway its tough but you add another pick without sacrificing much of a drop off in quality its hard for me to say no.

I like BPA, you might miss out on those dudes but you can diversify a bit and walk away with 2 of Nybeck, Bordeleau, Greig, Khusnutdinov, Wallinder, Hirvonen, etc... lot of interesting pieces, some guys with real upside and some guys that can fill a role.

I'm torn. You take a Gunler. Anything can happen, guys get moved/injured but seriously, Panarin, Kakko, Alexis, Kreider, Buch, Kravtsov, Guathier. Ones a superstar, another 2 can reach that level, how in the hell can a kid like Gunler even sniff the top 6 in a few years. I'd rather get a couple of shots and take a center, a dman, a kid that can fill a role... increase the odds a bit.

Don't put too much thought into Pronman. He goes way out of left field sometimes. He's a very good skater with very good offensive vision. He does need to get stronger and work on the defense. Surely a reach at No. 22, but not a bad one.

I want to like Barron, but he's got to stay healthy. He's lost almost a year and a half's worth of development.

I have not, but thank you for this!! Does it usually show the draft?

I don't know Joey. I only became aware of this site about halfway through last year. It does live. It's a stab on my part but if you can't find 2-7 rounds anywhere else why not see if it does. If it's there it's there--I'm going to find out. If it's not well--c'est la vie.

The virtual draft is going to be so lame

seeing Laf sitting in his house instead of putting on a Ranger Jersey next to the whole crew will suck

They probably sent him a jersey, lolol. Besides I would think the NHL would have something planned for the 1st round...

Pronman did a full 7 round mock for the Athletic:

Just looked at it. If Luke Evangelista is still on the board at 66 (I don't think he will be), I hope they try and trade up from 72.

Woodlief compares him to Cam Atkinson. I like this player. But..I like him as a 2nd rounder which they don't have. A 3rd rounder would be great. At #22 I would be dissapointed.

Most likely yes.

Outside of Drysdale and Sanderson (himself a riser), I think you're looking at names like Guhle, Schneider, O'Rourke, Grans and others all possibly going higher than a lot of fans think.
