Domi suspension incoming? (Fined $5,000)

Do you think what Matthew Tkachuk is doing here is the same level of physical play that Domi did to Barkov?

This is the thing with the series. Florida is the best team in the league at playing slightly over the line. They will bump a goalie, take a bit of a late run, maybe a cross check or tap on the shin pads. It works and it sets the other team off. What does the other team do? Cross the line completely and then they get suspended. Happened with Hagel, and it’s 50-50 for Domi.

Leaf fans are posting videos of other actions from panthers fans like a little brother who is trying to convince mom that big brother was also doing bad things. Problem is, Domis hit was the stupidest action of the night, and the most blatant and intentional. He lined Barkov up from 10 feet away and boarded him. It was stupid. But the panthers make other teams do stupid things.
Good post. But that's what frustrates other teams. Panthers crossing the line, the league knows it and allows it.

I’ve said it before, Hagel should’ve been given a heavier suspension in that series, and Ekblad and Mikkola should have been suspended for multiple games for their hits.

The league has created this by removing tough guys and playing light on suspensions. They let teams respond to dirty play by taking huge runs at players and just hope things settle down. It’s proving to not be the solution here…

If hit coach says he only hits people with the pick then he will not get suspended. In other news this was another free headshpt gifted to Florida.

As a Leafs fan you can't defend that hit. Regardless of what I consider questionable officiating overall favouring the Panthers. (just my opinion) Domi should get a game or 2. It's a dangerous, unnecessary hit.
Half the games the Leafs have played this post season have had questionable officiating in the Leafs favour. That's not just the amount, it's when a penalty is called, what is called a penalty. Faceoffs too. It was mention in Ottawa. The Leafs aren't setting properly for faceoffs, when the other team tries to adjust, the player gets booted from the circle. The Leafs had the 3rd highest FO % in the last 10 years 2 games ago and the % was going up. Odds are it's first now.

Is Domi's hit a penalty? Sure it is. But that type of play is straight out of the Florida Panthers standard operating procedure when they're down by a couple with under a minute to go. Thankfully Barkov got up and doesn't appear to be hurt. Right or wrong it's the playoffs so my guess is Domi's probably going to get a "Max" fine.

The "if it was at a different time in the game it would be fine" crowd is funny tbh it makes absolutely no sense. If a play is suspendable at the end of the game it should be suspendable at any point in a game.

Leafs fans saying it should not be a suspension wouldn't say the same thing if it was Bennett hitting Matthews from behind into the boards with a few seconds left in a game that is already over.
If that happened, guaranteed it wouldn’t be a suspension. No joke, I don’t think anyones ever been suspended for a play against the leafs since Parros took over.
We’re just going off of the precedent that’s been set for the leafs. It probably will end up being a suspension though because with Parros the leafs have taken over 10 suspensions and are the most suspended team in the league.

nhl player safety considers it exacerbating if an incident is end game.

Should be 5 games

Mikkola also should have gotten 5 for the same type of hit earlier in the playoffs

NHL set the precedent, though, so he won't get anything more than the $6k max fine or whatever. Nothing changes until there's a Damar Hamlin situation in the NHL.

They're playing with fire with these dirty hits.
