What a story. AHL role player, turned AHL team leading scorer at 31 years old. Now he gets his shot.

Well earned. Did anything they asked of him and was a loyal player through and through for years in GR.

Hard work, tenacity, and doing the little things right got him here and I think he could be a useful bottom 6 guy. Shine has some fire to his game and isn't afraid of playing like he's the biggest guy on the ice even though he's 5'11. I don't think Glendening is a super accurate comparable, but there are many of the same qualities. I expect Mick to refer to him as a "junkyard dog" at some point. As long as you don't expect Shine to be all over the scoresheet, you will love him.

Veleno/Motte/Fischer/Rasmussen on the chopping blocks?

I'm happy for him personally; awesome to work and get/go that far even late, as a though fan. *Fart noise* But... again for him personally this has to be awesome, and I feel happy for him. He's 31, somtimes(most of the time) these are the last years of players "good" hockey. Awesome to ride out a millionaire and a really good story, especially if he exceeds expectations.

Wow, congrats Dom Shine! Hard work pays off, started in 4th in AHL and rose up in the rankings and now got NHL contract. Good role model for the kids. 3rd in all times games played in GR's history, only after Travis Richards and Brian Lashoff.

Either way, I think this is a good move for Grand Rapids. I know historically this team slow plays it's prospects but now between Kasper, Shine and Soderblom there should be a clear message to the kids that your play will earn you opportunities.
