Tie or at least very very close. No other nation is close to these three on the backend. Maybe Finn's in a few years but not today.

With Karlsson bouncing back and Dahlin taking a huge step forward they’re easily top 3 with Canada and the US.

Argument can be made as the best of bunch based on this seasons performance so far. In a best on a best scenario I think it’s a wash and comes down to performance.

I would put Sweden’s defence as #1 and pretty convincingly. Especially with karlsson rising from the dead, dahlin breaking out, lindholm anchoring a bruins defence with no mcavoy on the best team in the NHL. Throw in Hedman and Brodin, and I’d take this group over even the USA.

Insulting that you don’t have Germany, Slovakia and Switzerland ahead of Sweden.

I'd argue both our D's are weak. The B squad for Canada/US/Sweden would be better than our A squad.

But I'd take the one with NHLer's first. Cernak is definitely awesome! However, Rutta alone has more points then the Slovak's. I know it isn't just about points. Sustr, Knot and Galvas all probably get some games in too this year. I was a big Gernat fan (Oilers fan) but he's no better than guys like Klok, Sklenicka.

Put another way.. even if you combined our 2 D cores... it still isn't a Top 5 D core.
