No, it could be an instrumental or the listener might not be paying attention to the words. Reading = active intake, or attempt at understanding. Like reading a situation or a play.

I would say yes. But if you allude to reading/listening books, I would say the visual perception is different on the other hand, and may help proccess some things better, I don't know.
