If the Tkachuk's lean in on their physical/pestering games against Canada, who can counter them?

The only players I can think of are TK and Bennett. I don't think Canada has good options tbh.

I think Matthew Tkachuk, in particular, will be difficult to contain down below the goal line. My view is that Parayko was a really solid pick by the Canadian management team as he has the skating ability, size and strength (and the skill) to matchup with Matthew down low and provide a good level of defensive cover and physicality.

For the U.S. team, as a Canadian fan I'm more worried about Matt Boldy than I am of Brady Tkachuk. Boldy is more versatile as a player and provides a somewhat similar skillset as Matthew Tkachuk. Depending on how the Americans line up their forwards, I think a M Tkachuk/Matthews line, followed by an Eichel/Boldy line (or however they line up) will be challenging for Canada. Toews is a good all-around d-man and Doughty is one of (if not) the best 2-way d-men of his generation, but without Pietrangelo the Canadian D lacks size, strength and physicality.

I don't worry so much about either of the Tkachuks' abilities to get under the skin of their opponents. Canada is full of experienced professionals, and if it comes down to it two can play at that game (Bennett, Konecny, Marchand). The bigger issue is containing the strength and physicality of the American forwards imo.

Bennett and Marchand can easily match the physicality of the Tkachuks. It will be wierd to see if Bennett and M. Tkachuk get physical with each other since they're buddies and linemates in FLA.

American fans are much more pumped for this tournament than Canadian, Sweden and Finns combined. They are taking it way too seriously.

As for the question... Teams can ignore the Tkachuks for 2 games max. It's not like a 7 game series.

Idk about that. The thread on here about the Canada roster has a lot more posts than the USA roster one. And tsn has talked a lot more about it than espn. I think the notion that USA cares disproportionately is not entirely fair.

I disagree. The Canadian tournament thread was dormant for a long time - I had to go searching for it. The U.S. one is constantly being bumped / used.

This is the best U.S. team in 30 years so I understand why you are hyped. I just think a 4 team "tournament" shouldn't be taken too seriously - unless, of course, Canada wins.

That was more academic than any sort of overconfidence that USA will prevail.

If there's one thing watching USA Hockey reveals it's we always seem to flub it up at the Senior Level
