Does anybody know the story behind this snub from Fedorov to Primeau?

It is on Don Cherry's Rock Em Sock Em Part 5. Start the video at around 11:00. Cherry is showing some nice goals. Fedorov gets a nice coast to coaster goal and as Primeau is coming to congratulate him Fedorov makes a deliberate and obvious attempt to skate away. Only when the rest of the Wings teammates come over does Fedorov start to celebrate. Primeau has a confused look on him and even if there was something heated going on between them why would Fedorov have made it look so obvious on the ice, considering they are teammates?

Cherry says in the video "What's he turning away from Keith for? Keith's a good guy."

I've always wondered if anyone could shed any light on this.

completely speculating here, but if primeau eventually was traded from detroit because he didn't feel like he was getting the opportunities he should have behind fedorov and yzerman, then maybe there was some friction between the two. like maybe fedorov thought primeau was rooting for him to fail, which would explain why that's the last guy he'd want to be congratulated by.

again, total speculation. but then i've heard a lot of rumours over the years that suggest young primeau belonged in that prima donnas thread we have going right now...

I don't remember this specific incident nor any overt bad blood, but, absolutely. Primeau thought he was and should be the big star center of those DRW teams, despite forgetting how to play decent hockey every year when the postseason rolled around. Kind of hilarious in retrospect actually.

Rumours at the time were that Primeau wasn't a terribly popular guy in the Wings' room.

Probert apparently punched him out at one point when Primeau wouldn't stop whining about being cheated out of a 2nd assist on a Detroit goal by the official scorers.

All of this. Of course with Cherry it's all about the nationalities of the players involved.

If I recall correctly, young Primeau was not well-liked by his teammates.

Is that the Rock Em Sock Em where Cherry raps?

Who's the best I often ponder?
Right now it's Stevie Wonder!

Let's Go!

/from 20 year old memory.

hehe, yeah that's the one. Man that song always got stuck in my head. Grapes had a good beat to that song.

Hey no arguments about Primeau for sure. It is hard to believe with Yzerman right in his prime and Fedorov blossoming that Primeau would believe he is entitled. Knowing about his playoff resume it makes it even stranger. But the dressing room should stay in the dressing room shouldn't it? Even if a player is hard to get along with what's the excuse for Fedorov being a drama queen though in full public view? Fedorov was always a bit of an enigma, but why the big act like that? Primeau eventually left in 1996, right before they won Cups.
