I'm certainly not dropping another hundred on a habs win tomorrow, but it's certainly something to build off, let's hope they keep the momentum.

Indeed

This is one of those benchmark games you use on video when you want to show the team "When you do this and do that we have success" type of thing. But yeah the wise course here is to be a prudent optimist. We saw this team shit the bed too often to not to lol

Yup... and 7-4 with Laine in the lineup... (& really, 7-3 since he barely played in the CBJ loss).

Might just be that KH & co. did make a pretty solid assessment on where the team was at.

Will be interesting to see how the second half of the season goes... If any or all of Dach, Newhook & Slaf pick up their game and we can stay healthy on D, we will stay in the WC hunt right till the end

That's something I was hoping for this year. It sucks going through the final quarter of the season knowing that the team is cooked.

I still don't think we are at the point where they can stay in the hunt towards the end of the year but I sure hope I'm wrong.

Xhekaj plays 16 hard minutes and fights a guy who played 7 minutes. X is more valuable playing tough hockey and not fighting 4th line useless slugs.
He didn't go out searching for a fight like he has done in the past, he was clearing a guy away from our rookie goalie and the other guy dropped the gloves. What exactly do you think Xhekaj should have done differently, not shove the guy giving whacks to our rookie goalie who has covered the puck, or take a few punches, not drop the gloves, and duck the fight? Because neither of those are good options, and given his reputation he probably can't even draw a PP from holding back.

Who had predicted the Habs would be tied with the Rangers after Christmas?

NYR is an absolute trainwreck right now. The team has talent on paper but there is some major inner turmoil going on . Some guys are out to get Drury. Their first step toward redemption should be to get rid of him. Team is in a quasi state of civil war.

I won't lie i'm kind of enjoying the drama though lol

I think he is a good player who will have to fight but unfortunately it will often times be against insignificant plugs. I have no issue with him dropping the gloves, it's too bad though that we end up losing a productive player while the other team doesn't.

I want to see a Heineman - Beck - Evans third line at some point in the future. 3 speedy hard working two way forwards who can also contribute offensively. I think that would be a very useful and responsible line that you can match up against anybody . Their styles mesh together perfectly

MSL deserves a lot of credit, beyond simply getting his team ready and playing a full 60min after the holidays, but his goalie decision went against conventional wisdom and paid off. You would normally play your starter in the first of a back to back, you would normally want your starter to play against the better of the two teams which is Florida not Tampa, and on top of that Montembeault was drafted by them and there's always extra motivation to play your former team.

Having a competent backup along with a resurgence of our 6'4" top 6 center would make a huge difference going forward.

Also, MLS has had them playing solid hockey for a many weeks now. The defense is tighter, but it's the transition and offense that were not used to seeing in MTL. It's a modern system, finally.
